Wow, some great files have been posted :) I've downloaded quite a few! For anyone else who is not from North America, Labor Day appears to be September 7th this year I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I had to do a google search for this and it seems to be a date that moves about)

Another idea I had: I did a basic l'il "here's-some-sky" video to go with my piece last time around (behold my local subway station!). And, all things being equal, I'd probably do something like that again. Unless... would anyone be innerested in doing a video swap? Like, I'd make a sky-themed video for your track, and you do one for mine?

Any other ideas/considerations in anyone's mind?

Thanks very much, I'm happy to let someone else do the covers this time, but I'll offer to do that if there are problems for anyone later.

The idea of a video swap sounds cool though Heraklitus - if you don't mind something semi abstract with lots of processed cloud video footage I'd be happy to swap you a video.

I am not going to commit to anything yet, but I just got a tracking number for my Critter and Guitari Eyesy, so I might be in for some video fun too

Ooh, I'm down. "Figuring out some shit in Resolve instead of just plunking stuff in Windows Movie Maker" is still on my pandemic project list so I have come sky-processing notions of my own.

Meanwhile, I've been taking the source sounds with me on my walks for the past couple days, and there's a lot of very pleasing stuff. Aedes, I'm sending my A&R team to your pond!

And also, as an aside: I don't think it's visible from the "user" end, but I presume as "owner" of the shared google drive, I can see in the activity tab who uploaded what, and it felt like a gift of a small intimacy to see your human names. Hello! :hello: (I am Joe, by the way, not even my Sophist friends call me Heraclitus.)
solo (mostly ambient): https://heraclitusakimbo.bandcamp.com/
duo (electroacoustic vibration exploration): https://wenderlypark.bandcamp.com/

band (spontaneous kosmische): https://stargoon.bandcamp.com/

hey Joe :hello:

I will definitely not be doing videos as I have no skill for that at all. But looking forward to seeing what people come up with for their tracks

Hi Joe, I'm Martin. You've probably guessed that my son is called Alexander :) We're three quarters of the way through mixing our track; the end isn't working yet, but I imagine if I give it a day or two, one of us will figure out what needs to go there. Then it just needs some fixes to stop it clipping like crazy :)

If anyone is indeed of any visual inspiration for the project, Youtube randomly suggested this rather amazing footage of storms in Texas:

The music is pretty good too!

Oy. A fun spell of computer woes has kept me from tackling any sound massaging. I'm on a slightly-wonky backup computer now, but hopefully it's at least stable enough to get back into some sonic processing.

I've been lucky to finally get some time off work; so I think our track is pretty much finished. I'll give it another listen in a couple of days to see if anything needs adjusting.

Good luck with fixing computers; that's a world of misery and no fun at all.

When was final stuff supposed to be done by? I have been swamped and no time to even listen to all the sounds yet! :( Looking forward to it though

Someone up there somewhere ^ said Sept 7th (my birthday, as it happens) which still gives you (and me, I've done nothing yet) plenty of time :)

Ya, we have a month and a bit yet, but knowing myself I'm trying to nudge-nudge-nudge me towards action.

i'm gonna do everything in the last 2weeks before the deadline because i've tons of stuff to do right now and no internet connection to download the files, but i swear i'm gonna make it.
Also, i have a couple of free hours tomorrow to work on a couple of ideas for the artwork. :)

I have burst into life and uploaded my completed track to my folder containing my 5 snippets for use.

It's titled Someone Else's Sky
