I just realized the newest JPEGMAFIA album came out this year. January seems so far away lol. Anyway yeah it was called Veteran. Its hiphop but like super tripped out and uh, challenging? Thats something record reviewers say right? Its real good. It has a song on it called "I Cannot Fucking Wait Till Morrisey Dies"

The covers album was total rubbish.

I mostly agree but again, with some listens, it's not bad.
I'm a big fan of Maynard though. I love all his creative projects. Puscifer is my favorite out of them all though.

i completely forgot that there's a new Spiritualized album. Jason played it in full on Thursday night in Brooklyn and it was great. i'll need to get on that sooner rather than later.

This newcomer Snail Mail released her début this year, and it's really marvellous. I'm frankly amazed at how good she is. Here's her playing one of the tracks on KEXP:

For total greasy good times rock & roll garage rockin' with stratospheric solos, the new Lecherous Gaze album One Fifteen delivers!
Full disclosure: I'm not even halfway through this album.
BUT
The guitar and bass tone is so fucking good (drums sound great too, but man. HNNNG). So I'm going to assume, based on that, that this is one of the albums of the year. https://i-voidhangerrecords.bandcamp.co ... -reverence

Other than the weird decision to take the lows off the bass and giving the drums priority down there, yes, amazing stuff! I'm enjoying it

I thought the bass sounded good, if not godly?
But then, I don't require lots of lows in my bass. I'm all about them mids.
Kick drum can bring the lows.
Shut up DoS

As a total Max fanboy, this reminds me of the III-Dark Ages era material so far (just listening now). I like it.
wish someone had stolen Marc Rizzo's Whammy, though.
