I’ve never listened to a demo of the death metal but i respect a fellow ilfer who has such a deep commitment to such a forgotten pedal. I might have to check these out!

I mean, the Death Metal is basically the Tube Screamer of the noise scene.

Also actually an excellent pedal that you should definitely check out.

just curious: the consensus is that the Digitech Death Metal is far inferior to the DOD Death Metal, correct?

I never owned one... but played one... I always liked it.

I remember playing fairly loud in my house one New Year's Eve. It was an AC-15 with garbage strat knockoff and EHX Metal Muff. It was SO LOUD and the sustain. I thought I was SUNN that night. I realize this comparison is ridiculous but... you weren't there man.... you weren't there.

Oh and Retinal just get a Monobius. It be a ring mod and a fuzz and Curtis rides the gain.

I always thought the digitech death metal was pretty badass. When I was in high school I bought a metal zone and the other guitarist in my bad bought a digitech death metal and I always thought his tone sounded way better than mine. Granted we both sounded like shit with our ibanez solid state amps but I sounded shittier than he did haha

I use the Digitech Death Metal for a sort of Psychocandy sound with lots of reverb pedals.

I think the DOD and Digitech sound the same, but the Digitech version has a DI output with cabinet simulation, like some other Digitech pedals.

Oh funny you bumped this. I *may* have just pulled the trigger on a used Digitech Death Metal. $40.

And the seller lived in my neighbourhood so it was an easy peasey kind of transaction. Not having to go “downtown” with all the “craft beer lodges” and guys riding around on unicycles....

I'm so happy for you. I can't wait to see another pedal board pick with that with it's fellow frogs in the pond! If I see one under $40 I will impulsively purchase.
