I really want to reach that second stretch goal! More effects would be greatoscillateur wrote:Rewatching the videos I'm pretty sure the outputs of the Mescaline go into a mixer in the eurorack behind and he's just tweaking volumes sometimes.
Really looking forward to receiving this one. The first stretch goal (250 systems sold) is almost guaranteed I think, but getting the second one (500) would be great too. 4 different fx instead of only reverb would be super nice.

I've shared it a couple of places. They will sell 250, but I'd be very surprised if they sold 500. I they should have put more stretch goals between 250 and 500.

Re: Folktek Mescaline Indiegogo is LIVE!!
I'm thinking about how to make this practical for me irl.
Do we know what the output situation is? In the videos it is seemingly output to the rack behind it, so do I need something else to make amplification easier?
I'm also thinking about how to make it more packable and portable. I'm thinking a small Euro rack case that would be as tall as two of the three and also as wide as two, leaving it 3/4 full, but then I'd have a little room for a couple other toys as I get used to it. Good idea? Terrible idea? Too early to know??

I'm thinking the same thing about the case situation. Also knobs for the pots. I'd go a bit bigger on the racks though because Euro is drugs. Probably just outputs to whatever you put it into. Computer speakers w a 1/8 in would probably work.
Someone please tell me if I'm stupid.

Yeah part of the small case idea is that I really don't want to allow myself to get sucked in much more than I already am. Same reason I bought a smallish pedalboard

So the modules are each 44hp. To make my two row dreams come true that means I need a case that's 2u by at least 88hp right? Sorry, I've never even looked into Euro much and then I just jumped in. I just really need to be able to cover this or my kids and nephews will break it for sure.

They're weirdly sized for sure. I want like all the space in a rack though.

You need a case that is 6U and 88hp (each row is 3U: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rack_unit). Unfortunately, you probably won't be able to find an 88hp case. The standard sizes are usually 84hp or 104hp. You'll find some in between, but even those are usually 90hp, 114hp, 126hp. I guess 90hp is pretty close, thoughPeteeBee wrote:So the modules are each 44hp. To make my two row dreams come true that means I need a case that's 2u by at least 88hp right? Thanks! I'll probably do 104hp. I've found keeping things standard helps in the long run with most things in life, at least until you know what you're doing. And it'll be a little more room for things that I don't even know exist yet!MrNovember wrote:You need a case that is 6U and 88hp (each row is 3U: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rack_unit). Edit: or maybe I'll just make a big wood box to put over it. That seems a lot more sensible than to thrust myself into an expensive hobby I know nothing about.

Yeah, when I'll get mine I'll check the exact size and try to find a nice box that can be used to move it around. I think the form factor with the 3 rows is perfect for this. I'll probably use it with my modular but not in it.PeteeBee wrote:Edit: or maybe I'll just make a big wood box to put over it. Re: Folktek Mescaline Indiegogo is LIVE!!
This thing still has me ignited....
Regarding live use though, some here said it would be too fiddly probably?
Not that that would keep me from buying to explore & dream at home,
but what would be a feasible setup for something exploratory like this live?
Same hands on approach is a must, smallish size a plus, affordableness surely appreciated, but I'm not expecting to square circles here....
edit: Like... 3 volcas are a still kinda fiddly & similar pricepoint, but totally different beast, no?
1 volca, 1 Beatstep Pro, 1 extra synth?
?

Hey. I see the blue and orange cables from Channel going off somewhere else. It also looks like the purple cable from Mental goes on to the Euro in the back. I see similar things in the other videos. It says in the indiegogo that "no external effects or processing have been used." Just wondering if you could clarify what's going on with cables that come/go elsewhere in these demos. Thanks!
Got a reply:
Hi. It's true. No external processing. The audio outs are going to eurorack mixers. Here, one Mental out goes to a mixer so I can control the signal going into Channel because the Mental only has one volume pot and I wanted one clean output for recording (so out from mixer, adjust level, back into channel input). Channel and the other Mental out to mixer on eurorack which goes to my main mixer/soundcard. Beyond that, there is no processing. It's a pretty straight forward internal patch. they all are.
