My least favorite is when a builder or reviewer tries to coyly hint that the pedal is a clone of some much more well-known pedal or amp, without stating what that circuit actually is. I compiled a bunch of these to start a thead once, but decided it would be annoying of me. Well, here we are.
Paraphrasing here, but the spirit remains intact:
"a certain citrus-colored sound from the 70s"
"a well-known, British-voiced circuit"
"one of the most beloved fuzz circuits of yesteryear"

Yea, they're all over the stuff in that regard.
"We then added a reverb engine that draws inspiration from certain digital rack units of the '80s and '90s. "
CERTAIN UNITS.
CERTAIN.

Yes!
"The knobs appear to be a nod to a certain British-built titan of tone."
"Catapulp, Wampler's take on a certain-colored iconic British amp"

But any effects unit that has amplitude modulation is my friend.
"Shimmer A utilizes a cross-resonance modulator feeding a
stereo tremolo, which is, in turn, sent to both the outputs and
the inputs of a stereo echo pair. The tremolo in this effect is
mono compatible."
"Shimmer B has a stereo resonator feeding a stereo amplitude
modulator, which is, in turn, sent to both the outputs and the
inputs of a cascaded echo. The output of the cascaded echoes
is sent to an auto-panner before it too is sent to the outputs."
Damn...sounds cool. Clips??

Don't think there's a "every Vortex algo" demo out there - and even if there was, it'd take up hours because of the variations with each one.
And then hours because it was the unit that brought morphing two patches together so you can have between A / B of *any* two algos in the unit.

Worst thing in "Boutique Land" is this and forever will be.

And the only one that really does it, because that spillover feature in the pedals/units I've tried is a joke compared to Vortex's morphing.
Also thank you for introducing me the Vortex like 2 years ago, I think I never did

No problem, it's been the forgotten gem of the last gasp of rack gear. I'm so glad I have one (and I've been tempted to get a second, just because Bleen into Bleen might melt the sun)

^ Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?
From TGP via google:
"just for the record King of the "Britains" is mispelled intentionally.
on the earliest ones at Namm show 1998 people did not understand the correct spelling. i got tired of explaining what Britons were.
i actually got questions from a guitarist if a Briton had something to do with atoms and electrons... go figure.
brian
menatone"
Also, Menatone's stuff is pretty good. If I only had one amp, I'd keep a couple of his amp-in-a-box things around.

Still inexcusable, just because colonials couldn't understand it isn't a reason.
