Yeah, Mosrites are amazing. I keep inching closer to buying something from Hallmark Guitars, one of the Mosrites or the Stradette. The Stradette is so ugly it becomes amazing.

Hallmark is pretty legit. Dude is super nice. I think some are Korean made, but people really like them. Bob shade seems to really take pride in this stuff. They've got fatter necks...but they are supposedly great! Someday I will pick one up maybe...i think I am addicted to the mosrites haha.
Hallmark really go to the limits on taste but they are kinda cool for that hotrod kinda thing..
I really want a bluesbender though...one of the few single cut away body styles I like. Eh, I'm happy with my mk I and Yamaha SGV though. Dreams.

kinda want and become poison ivy wannabe
omg
Not sure what the deal-ee-o is with Hallmarks, I think they are made in Korea and then frets/fretwork/setup is done in California? People seem to really rave about them. Korean guitars are generally as good as you can get these days, up there with Japan and most US large manufacturers imo.

That stradette just makes me want to play some rockabilly...at least try haha.
I think they are Korean...but they may make a guitar here or there in the USA too...but not sure. He does take custom offers. Like you said, I think most of the setup and finishing is done here. I think he made the guitar he wanted in the Mosrite spirit and at as reasonable price as he can pull off.
Mosrite is the same way except the parts come from Japan (when they do a USA run....they just get assembled in Bakersfield by Dana Moseley and she uses different pickups...otherwise it is a Fillmore). Hallmark is based on the east coast somewhere. And Fillmore mosrites are all Japanese.
Semie would do stuff like that too. Call a shop and tell them to make so many bodies and necks and then basically assemble and finish it in his shop. Of course, he varied in the ways things went down over the years (I think the pickups were all made in house).

I've never been a big SG person, but the skinny headstock and mini humbuckers on this retooled Melody Maker boasts a bit more mojo than the standard model.
