Absolutely.

What you're saying is absolutely correct...I need to broaden my view. Maybe its the timidness of being my first time, so I'm looking at each part as the end, and not as one small part of a world in itself.

Like everything in the universe, you can zoom in infinitely, or zoom out infinitely and still find new things, and new ways things are working within a system. It's just going to take me a lot of experience to figure out what I need, and then some comfort and success under my belt to have the confidence to be creative in getting what I need.

Right now I'm planning to box this one up as it sits, because I'm so nervous that I'll somehow lose this magical thing I have. But, I can then start working on what's still on the breadboard to my hearts content with a little more freedom.

If some of those really low gain gurgling sounds I get when I have the gain knobs turned way down on both transistors are part of what I'm liking, but their volume is just too low, maybe I need to think about incorporating an active one-knob transparent boost instead of that passive volume knob at the end of this circuit. Since its going into a 1590dd, lord knows I have the room to add whatever I need. I need to start thinking in blocks like that to achieve a goal, instead of "can I change the value of that final pot and get more volume out of this thing?"

You needn't worry about losing anything if you've created it twice. Generally speaking two times is not a fluke (unless you're REALLY "lucky", hahaha).

Yeah, I'm a fan of adding stages once I have a stage that does what I like but I need more of something. Careful though, it's easy to wind up with a convoluted mess of things if you're shooting for the moon. Best have a firm design idea and stay within the confines of that, for a while at least..

Yikes, ok...here we go:

I'm only attempting that last stage because I think it has a chance to really improve the pedal. If it does work well on the breadboard, I will just build that last stage on its own tiny board, and connect it to the first one with a few wires.

I've loved reading your progress on this, two things I would say though would be, firstly, to be careful with your units on the schematic. For example, it would be better to label C7 as 1nF instead of 0.001µF and C2 as 0.1µF instead of 100nF, you've also used two different units for the same value, you've labeled C2 as 100nF and C10 as 0.1µF. The other thing would be to label the legs of the pots to prevent pots from being wired up backwards.

Neither are that important, and I am being nitpicky, but it's little things like that that make schematics look much more professional and can prevent errors further down the line.

Apart from that, good job so far :thumb:

All very good advice!! Thank you thank you! I promise when I get it completed and boxed up, I will go back through and polish the schematic to make it consistent and fill in the details like pins on those pots. Then I'll post it along with pics of the final pedal.

Dude, that's magnificent. First fuzz along those lines indicates a promising future.

Do you mind sharing the part number on that big knob? I'm looking for a stop gap before I go crazy and make some on my own.

Still a bit of work getting it boxed up...gotta drill the jack holes once I know where they're going, etc. but there should be a demo video coming soon. I gotta spend a day or so cataloguing the sounds/knob settings before shooting the demo, after its boxed so I can have the various settings planned out to get all the sounds out of it I want...but I'm ecstatic with how this has turned out this far.

I also got a 10mm flickering LED for the big orange fresnel lens there so it will look like there's welding or a Tesla coil or fire going on down inside the pedal when turned on. I hope that works out too.
