Re: DOD/Black Arts Toneworks Boneshaker Distortion
Mine came yesterday! No shipping info or confirmation, so I wouldn't be worried y'all.
I spent like 3 minutes playing it because I was troubleshooting an overdrive most of the night, and I only played it through my shitty workbench amp so I wasn't blown away. I'm gonna plug it up to the Sunn tower of power tonight and see what happens. The EQ controls sounded badass though.

Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)
I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

Re: DOD/Black Arts Toneworks Boneshaker Distortion
I'm using mine in a very thought out way.
I have three different types of "tone shapers/eq" pedals throughout my board. The Boneshaker is number 1 and meant to push part of my chain, or I want to get a lot of grind, it does that too. It also takes out some of what the compressor is doing in regards to over squashing my signal. So it's creating more evenness.
Second is my Iron Ether Divaricator (exciter with EQ), and that's meant to bring more lows and push another part of the chain.
Then I have my B7K to do all the rest at the end of the chain and act as a buffer (not that I need it).
So I'm happy to report I have the crunchiest bass tone evar.
I got mine yesterday and it was random.
The other 3 are still pending via Paypal........so not real sure what's up with that? Then I got an email from Harman asking if I wanted to buy two more because I accidentally put two in the cart on a different email. Half tempted to do it. LOL. Especially since they are sold out. Wonder if they held those two because of me.

I was thinking it could be a modified 250 (since it's a dod collab) but I've never messed with those so idk.jrfox92 wrote:All I know is it has TL074 quad opamp (probably has to do with the EQ), a TL072 dual opamp (which is what I assume is the main source of distortion), a (I think) 2N7002 N-Channel MOSFET (looks like it's the input booster), and an M5C dual switch diode (clipping?).karmablock wrote:I'm digging it with my jazzmaster in standard. Does anyone know if this is based on anything? Most BAT seemed to be based on other things (like almost all other fuzz makers).
So, it's probably comparable to a lot of other overdrives/distortions, but that EQ is what's gonna make it really special.
Edit: no the 250 uses a different ic

Yeah, but, you could do all that with Boss pedals.jwar wrote:I'm using mine in a very thought out way.I have three different types of "tone shapers/eq" pedals throughout my board. I'd probably only need one Boss pedal too. Re: DOD/Black Arts Toneworks Boneshaker Distortion
It gets surprisingly low gain; I wouldn't exactly call it "clean", but you can have it function almost just as a parametric boost if you wanted, provided you're not clipping any of the EQ bands.D Rock wrote:Thank you for the info. Wish I knew a little more about those specifics but I am trying to learn. I think this thing would be awesome if you could mod it for low gain and then just have a super powerful eq. Either way I love me some cocked wah dirt tones.jrfox92 wrote:All I know is it has TL074 quad opamp (probably has to do with the EQ), a TL072 dual opamp (which is what I assume is the main source of distortion), a (I think) 2N7002 N-Channel MOSFET (looks like it's the input booster), and an M5C dual switch diode (clipping?).karmablock wrote:I'm digging it with my jazzmaster in standard. Maxing the gain and bass band while zeroing the other bands and the depth makes for annoying(ly amazing) sub tones.

Btw, is it just me, or does the gunslinger sound equally nice? I'm just going on the clips I checked, and it's an apple vs oranges thing ofcourse...
Just sayin', I don't think it'd sound half bad as a foundation type overdrive that gets beyond tubescreamer gain levels, like in an ocd type of way

Didn't you say you can tell if you're gonna keep something after only ten minutes of playing in your ILFcast episode?jwar wrote:After 10 minutes??? Damn! LOL!!harpies wrote:Got mine today, played maybe 10 minutes. Not for me, if anyone wants that didn't get one. Int'l is cool too.

How long after you ordered it did it arrive?
