I wouldn't call Sunn O))) "not music" at all. They do write music, just not in a traditional sense. In Sunn O))) case its more about getting across a mood and creating more of a landscape. For example, with the recent song "let there be light", it sounds exactly like it says it does. Like this massive sunrise with spectacular color ushering the new day. It creates a sense of cosmic vastness, like your a dot in the presence of this massive thing.
As for their live shows, that it very much a similar experience. Its creating a mood like their records, but not just something you hear, but something your FEEL. It vibrates your bones and makes you feel like your somewhere else and part of something vast instead of in the presence of vastness. Its like the difference between reading the bible and going to church.

Yeah, i get what you mean, that's why I put the "not as we get music i mean" and even what you have described later sounds like something i mean - it's a lot about onomatopoeia and emotions rising up due to the sound, but you don't listen to it because of the structures, patterns or riffs and songs even... maybe someone does, but my attention span can't encompass riffs so lenghty

so it sounds more like mantras or audiotherapy to me, or noise, but less abstract than trve noise i guess

Agreed actually! That's why I like Sunn O))) so much. Their music is very...sound bathy. Its like a form of therapy for me.

Earth 2 is actually just Rising Force slowed waaay down and run through a low-pass filter. You can do it in Audacity, give it a try.

I exported it as a .WAV though and it was 600 MB.
