I'm waiting for a SS/BS Mini that will replace the Hustle Drive in there. I also need to patch a few things in the nord micromodular that can be seen above the modular, I'll put that one just after the YC. And I might replace the DD20 with a smaller delay, too. The picks are used to keep keys down for better and more prolonged droning...

Trying some pedals with the Reface YC. I like that thing very much. Haven't tried it with the modular yet, that's the next step.

Re: Let's see your EXPERIMENTAL TABLETOP GEAR
Okay, now I've started building ideas for a tabletop setup, including a Rucci minimal drone, SK-5 and a 4 track tape recorder. I was jamming some SK-5 and minimal drone through pedals today and def found some stuff I want to use for this. I find that the memory loss really excels in a tabletop setup as you constantly can adjust the time and glitch controls at any point I feel. Also, the El cap really rocks in a tabletop, which blows since I love it on guitar as well. We'll see whats up when I get my echo degrader though. The PDS8000 also kicks ass with droners and stuff. Question is what else to add? Some fuzz obviously, but in terms of modulation

Nice.
El cap + echo degrader = love. You're gonna need two of each.

Re: Let's see your EXPERIMENTAL TABLETOP GEAR
Late to the party, but REALLY glad I finally found this thread. I'm new-ish to actually making my own drones/noises outside of a indie rock context, and eager for some inspiraion...
I know most comes from what you do with as little as possible gear, but not owning a looper, just one delay pedal, and one modulation effect...feels sorta limiting
Don't have any synths or electronic-oriented processors of any sort, and I'd like whatever new stuff I buy to be equally useable for my none-noise stuff.
I can't really justify any new toys unless they can go on my 'regular' pedalboard as well, and I can't/won't buy pricey boutque shit.
Suggestions for cheap/sleeper peds that meet those requirements would be welcome. Not particularly cheap, but I'm already on the lookout for a superego (faux synth sounds, and the freeze thing, which could replace my ehx freeze), and a Ditto X2 (reverse and 1/2 speed loops ftw.
I already have more dirt pedals than I need, but another delay could come in real handy. What are my options for cheap/weird/shitty digital delays that can do a couple unconventional tricks?
Cheers

Fuck yeah. So obvious, and yet I always forgot about those B oss PS's
What's the consensus on the difference between the PS-2 and PS-3 though?

Just rest your guitar against the amp and mangle the feedback with your pedals. That might be a start.

Line 6 m9
You got lots off effects, a looper and you can feed its output into its input to use as an oscillator.
If you can swing it and or find one cheap an m13 can do it and better.

Re: Let's see your EXPERIMENTAL TABLETOP GEAR
As far as I know (not too much tbh) the PS-3 has higher fidelity delay and better tracking of the pitch shifting, but in my book the opposite sounds like a preferred option in a setup like this. Especially with the opportunity to do a simple mod to the PS-2 to make it take CV-inputs for delay time, and run a sequencer or something in there. The PS-2 oscillates in a really cool way, which I'm not sure the PS-3 does, but the PS-3 can do the static looper/glitching thing as demonstrated below. Shown on RV-3 but the same works for PS-3 apparently. Either one, or both, are cool options:frigid midget wrote:Fuck yeah. So obvious, and yet I always forgot about those B oss PS's

Run cheap old casio/toy synths through a bunch of pedals, use a looper/a mixer and manipulate feedback with delay and pitch shifting and it'll get you a long way. I really like tremolo>pitch shifting delays to create some kind of rythmic puling stuff. The timebender is awesome for this. Loopers are always cool. Old DOD delays/PDS-delays with the static looping+pitch shifting thing are super sweet for this too IMO. Get some glitchy loops going. And a good reverb to smooth everything out in the end is nice for ambience

Come to think of it...Don't those old DSD-2 and DSD-3's also hold a lot of glitch/noise potential for a relatively small price?
If I remember right, there's the trigger in, and you can get them to self oscillate and pitch shift. Plus obviously the stuttering thing and the regular digital delays...Right??

DSD-2/3 are awesome. Both are exactly the same inside, same as a DD-2 too but with one different mode (the shortest delay time mode of the DD-2 is replaced by the rec/play and play only mode).
The trigger/pulse input works like the footswitch basically. If you have anything that outputs triggers, you can use it to sequence a bit of sound you just recorded. If you're in rec/play mode you can also record at the same time and with high enough feedback you can get some nice evolving sounds. I think you can trigger the thing with audio too, the volume/amplitude threshold it needs is probably low enough.
Highly recommended pedals, which work fine as normal digital delays too.
I did my first electronic live a dozen years ago with nanoloop on a gameboy mostly doing some chords drones, plugged in a DSD-2 that was triggered by a custom box with a couple of squarewave LFOs in it, and then into a slightly circuit bent delay pedal. Tiny little setup that could still make lots of very cool noises. I still have a recording of a couple of minutes of it :

It's the next to last one on that (not updated in a very long time) page in case that link doesn't work directly :

PS-3 does ISIS TONEZ and has a magical Mode 7/Inverse mode, which is a reverse delay with a standard delay time if you have the pitch set equal, otherwise it kind of does a Rainbow Machine/GB24/Count to Five twinkling drug lights sound.frigid midget wrote:Fuck yeah. Boss PS-2 does SLOWDIVE TONEZ and has a magical Mode 4 aka 'manual mode', which does slightly warmer slightly more simplified twinkling drug sounds.
