Depends on what you mean by refined.

The Supercollider is 1,000% doom-in-a-box, but it's actually a very contained and mellow circuit in some ways.

Pro-tip: If you roll the gain back to about 9 o clock and boost the volume you can use it as a pretty gnar dark boost, too.
Yeah...sometimes descriptions can be elusive. The '71SC clips sound great, but I was definitely requiring the doominess of the the regular SC for my project.

Will have to try your tip for using it as a boost :)

So I compared the Beast and the SC '71 for a couple hours today. Used a Tele loaded with BKP Flat 50s into a Science 30W Shiv head through two Emperor 1x12s, one with a Weber 65, the other with an Weber Axis 12 (Fane clone). Wasn't expecting this but I def prefer the '71 on guitar.

It's voiced a little darker or "muffier" but still has tons of clarity, cut, and great low end. Sounds thicker and more focused to my ears than the Beast, def fuzzier, has about equal gain but a little more output. It's smoother in terms of low end and low mids too. Whereas the Beast rings out kinda dirty/nasty when I hit low end chords and things can get a little messy (in the best kind of way), the '71 holds together better, smoother, a little tighter, just seems to have more punch as a result when the gain is super cranked. Haven't tried it on bass or had a chance to compare to the Pharaoh just yet.

If you don't like it, I will personally buy it from you.
I'm finally taking your advice I think, the fuzz stang is pretty wicked and might stay but doesn't cover all my fucked up fuzz needs.

this please ^ I love my supercollider but cannot justify another so similar when the pharoah is so customizable.
plus you can move 'em around! :!!!:

Compared today and it's not really capable of Pharaoh tones. The '71 is basically a smoother, fuzzier, maybe tiny bit thicker version of the SC but it's still pretty close to the original. An SC and '71 would be redundant on the same board I'm thinking...

gracias for the comparison dude, think that about sums it up. though that doesn't stop me from wanting one...
too bad I missed out on the pale mare bee baa clones. but am looking forward to see what else he comes up with.
in the meantime, I think I need a BAT Fnord. sounds so disgusting in a way I like very much.

He's still making them...in small batches at least. I started talking to him in October and received mine a few weeks ago.

LaoWiz (Shark Tank builder) makes a badass Bee Baa clone called the Warthog. You should check that out as well. :thumb:

And yeah, I love my Fnord, a very unique brand of nastiness from that pedal but still thick and heavy if needed.

 Still waiting for my "5-10 day" Supercollider. Hopefully he hits the 30 day mark.

I probably should've taken MEC's advice.

Did you get his email? He said there was a delay with the enclosures, and everything should be ready to ship out next week.

I got the Acid Pig on the Black Friday/ weekend thing and while it DID take longer I still received it in what seemed like a timely manner for a built-to-order pedal. Lots faster than when I got the Iron Pig. :idk:

I DO know I want a freaking supercollider
