but..... i am getting more pissed at this guy (the lying to PayPal then going back on it as damage control is a big deal to me) the more i think about it and thinking about him dick baggin people that can't afford to be scammed out of their precious pedal money.... yah.
be back in a bit.
I have a feels for bahndy. Bahndy is good bro and i know how it is feels when builders fuck you and lie like a motherfucker to try and cover it up. At least they havent created fake accounts to get on here and blast you???
hugs baybay. HUGS.

copy pasta from the other LDP thread -
sooooo...... huh. i guess i kinda skimmed it at first, but when i was chatting with a friend about this and told him i just got a NEW (after the email i quoted in here) email from LDP guy saying he spent time on the circuit and made some improvements on the breadboard and i should send in the busted one and he'll swap guts my friend summed up more succinctly than i could -
"Hilarious damage control ensues.
1) it's not broke
2) it's broke
3) I made a newer nicer one"
but then i reread it and apparently he's offering to refund my entire original purchase amount AND to send me a newer, less noisy version. i am, again, conflicted. this was never about bullying someone into doing the right thing, people do make mistakes and he's doing a mea culpa and saying he didna handle it the best. i don't like talking shit about people. he sounds like he learned that this isn't the way to treat customers.
in the email he does apologize for how it went down, says he's new to the business side and has made mistakes.... that's plenty apology for me. i don't really want a free pedal under these conditions. it feels weird getting something free from someone that my only relationship with them is talking shit and shaming the experience publicly. makes me feel like a bully and a dick.
i think i'm going to tell him, "when i asked if it was supposed to sound like this and got the response "yes", at that point all i wanted was a full refund. i WAS very excited to get this pedal, so if you want to send one out to me after the redesign and if i click with it i can pay you for it, if i don't i can send it back, i would be interested in that.".
thoughts?

lol. a TAD more confrontational than might be appropriate if he's admitting he didn't handle it correctly.
but i'm listening.

I would take a refund and be done with him. Buddy has demonstrated to you that he can't be trusted to deal with on this matter. Who knows what might happen if pedal #2 stinks? The best and safest way to make this right is to get a full refund, and just move on to sharing your $$$ with other builders who deserve it. The information out there already is reflective of how he chose to conduct himself, and if he chooses to right this then that info will be out there too. If it was me, I just think there are so many builders out there who deserve and could use the dough - let other people take their chances with this guy ASSUMING that he does show himself to be worthy of further chances by rectifying this one.
I just think that choosing to give him a second (third? fourth?) chance here is like signing up to take a beating, and not the good kind.

Rabbit Bun Bun Can't See His Own Face - lol. well, i'm never buying anything from him again. i told him i don't want a free pedal, just a refund. i'm actually hoping he just didn't think his actions through and now realizes that this is a baaaaaaaaaaaaad way to roll, but whatevah.
i'm totally with you. way too many other people that have treated me ridiculously well from jump. without some bullshit pressure applied. f'realz, like 90% of the builders out there are just the bestestest people.
actually, now that i think about it, effects pedals builders have always given me the best customer service consistently across the board than ANY commercial field.

Yeah, that's why it is surprising to me. Most of the pedal-builders I have dealt with have been extremely accommodating - almost too much so. I feel like some of them end up getting taken advantage of.

I thinks its cause they like what they do, and are usually extremely passionate about it. Builders aren't in it for the money, there are other (better) ways of making a decent income. I think that passion for their work naturally comes through in their customer service, they want you to enjoy their product as much as they do. Of course there are exceptions to this... as we've seen, but like everybody else here I've generally had extremely positive experiences with builders that keep me coming back for more.
