The ski hill opened. Trails are covered in ice and snow. Seasons' over. Depressed. but on the bright side:

Haha, looks like he smashed his uh, bait n tackle, on that first one. That trail was a good example of how mine are, btw, but with shorter runs of downhill...and no path markers.
The dudes in the second one all seemed ok for the most part, so that's good. Can't believe EVERY one of them launched off

I've never tried taking pictures of my bicycle before, but here's a picture I took of it earlier today:

Here's the same photo, but larger:

Although I dig the look, I don't really like being brakeless. I have a set of bullhorns that I think I'm going to wrap and put on there, with a front brake. I kinda like the look of time-trial levers. Does anyone have any experience with those? Do you think they look silly if they're only on one side?

Also, I bought the bike off of a guy in my dorm last year for $200. When I took it to the bike shop, I was informed that the rear hub alone retails new for about that price, so that was a neat surprise. Everything else on the bike except the bottom bracket are no-name parts, though.

Partially because cops occasionally hassle people around here who don't have brakes. Also because I ride in traffic around town, and usually go pretty fast, and although I can stop pretty quickly, I can't stop as fast as I could with brakes. I had to run a red light, right in front of a cop, one time because I was in a full-out sprint when the light changed and I couldn't stop fast enough, haha. Luckily he didn't pull me over or anything.

In short, I just feel that it would be a good safety measure. I feel very comfortable not having brakes 99.99% of the time, but every once in a while there might be an instance where it would be worth it to have. I think I'll put brakes on the bullhorns for city riding and leave the drops brakeless for when I do distance rides.

makes sense. I thought maybe you were worried about your knees. i rode in the city with no brakes for years and was only hit by a car five or so times, but brakes wouldn't have helped in any wreck. i did get pulled over by a cop once and given a ticket for running redlight(s),.....still don't know why i didn't just hop on the curb and 180 to the next wrong one way street etc....ticket was bullshit too cause a car was hogging me in the bike lane and also went through the light at the same time I did.

i already posted it once but the stem was flipped from a 30 mile race i did with my sister her wife and niece. it was funny how everyone was like, wtf? a track bike?

I've got this much shorter nitto stem to put on.

Jesus I love those Bianchi frames so much. That's the best color on them, too, although I also like the chrome ones a lot. Really sweet bike you've got there.

Haha, I'm not worried about my knees just yet. If I put on a brake, I'll still stop with the rear wheel and stuff. It'll just be for emergencies.
It's more just a "Might as well" kinda thing, I suppose. If I ever need it, I feel like it'd be worth it to have, more so than it would be worth it to not have them the rest of the time.

Thanks. They are nice. I like to color too. I just picked this one up in '10. My prior ride was a panasonic frame I converted to fixed gear. Crazy shit...I was riding next to a city bus, pretty close cause we were going up hill and i wanted a hand. on the down hill there was one of those rectangular metal plates that cover holes or whatever and they stick up. i popped over the front wheel but the back wheel hit and both rear chain stays broke free from the bottom bracket shell  .....so now my bike has split in two basically, the crank dug into the road and i was balancing myself on the clipless pedals which were now on the road for oh god i don't know how many yards? 10-15?? i dont know it all happened so fast. all the while the bus was still just outside of an arms length away. there was a car behind me and thankfully they were paying attention. it was fucking nuts :!!!: i loved that bike. oh, and almost could have died.

i should take a pic of that frame, the sprocket is bent over and ground flat. I had a really nice set of Time ATAC mtb clipless pedals on, but i can't get one of them off. i think the pressure just fucked the two pieces together
