LOL the music! I needed something to replace my dumb narration, so I found a track on YouTube called spider. I think it's a Nursery Web Spider, maybe a Fishing Spider.
I was shirtless when I came across him. I felt so exposed.

feel like i've told the story on here before, but when i was between first and second grade my family moved before our new house was finished being built. there was a mountain (to me) of dirt from digging the basement. awesome place to play. until i moved a clump of dirt and found mama and her hundreds of babies. arachnophobe since. yick.

i was camping at the Humboldt Redwoods once...my reality was already pretty fragile even before i saw the grouse come walking through the campsite. it wasn't that it was a big bird--there are wild turkeys all over NorCal--it was its proportions and size. i wasn't prepared for a two foot tall bird with foot-long strides. i was all "what the fuck was that, a dinosaur?" Which of course is precisely what it was

Yep I heard a rustle in the trees and looked back and was expecting a person to come down the trail but sure enough it was this almost 3 foot tall ancient denizen of the woods... He came down one trail and saw me sitting and stopped and kind of postured for a second while I was agape, then he took a hard left on another trail, did some feet stamping and scratching all while displaying his crown then just shot off down the next trail in search of lizards, snakes and bugs...
