I quite liked my nano SS.

A bit simple for me but it sounded pretty ok clean, less good after dirt. Never tried an old one though.

The sovtek ones, and even the slant/folded ones are leaps and bounds better than the nano, IME.

^So much this!
The nano sounds thin and weak against my green Sovtek...

Spent the past few days tweaking my Moog Bass Murf and stumbled upon one of the sickest phasers ever. Wow. I might even have to say it sounds a bit better than the Sovtek Small Stone. Really resonant and controlled with huge peaks and lows. I am floored

monkeydancer wrote:So awesome dude, what do you think of Faye Sing vs Grand Orbiter? I really fancied a GO before I got my faye sing and I couldn't justify having both.
Thanks man. They're quite a bit different, I think, since the Orbiter is OTA-based and the Faye Sing is optical. I'm partial to the Faye Sing, as I use it mostly for fast "wobble" settings and optical seems to be more my thing. The controls on the Faye Sing are so useful, and the expression pedal ability is great. Faye Sing seems to work better on bass too, which is my main instrument. The Orbiter sounded pretty spectacular through my guitarist's rig though.

I have wanted one of these BADLY too, for a long while. Why hasn't anyone cloned these yet? Or am I missing something?

Are you talking about just the sound or the entire thing (enclosure and all)?

the sound. The enclosure would be tons of $$$ to redo.

Yeah, I was gonna say those enclosures are a little overly complicated.
Just the sound of the pedal shouldn't be too hard, I'm sure there's a schematic floating around somewhere.
It'd be funny to mount some big knobs on the side of a normal enclosure just to mimic the Maestro enclosure though.
And since one of the controls is named "Balls", maybe you should ask Dr Tony Balls to build it for you.

Isnt the infanem faye sing a clone or based off of it?
Theyre both optical phasers at least

There's an updated clone project for it coming soon.
And the reason no one has up untill now is it uses a pain in the ass to find chip (CA3094) which is rare and very expensive so it needed converting to an available part.

thought that the infanem was based on a mutron?
speaking of - why aren't there any bi-phase clones?
