bare in mind, i can't speak for every artists processes.
but prob a main component is any one of the these..sp202/303/404 chambers of lofi.
i know a few of the homies use them (including myself)

i know one of the cats told me he recorded his whole album on a macbook mic (detroit sessions i believe).

sometimes nothing beats the real thing tho. bounce that shit to tape!
