I really like G&ls, but I've got to agree with you on this one. Those are some hideous guitars.

I think the wood is pretty cool. I would dig that ASAT if it had a pickguard (pickguard-less guitars are always ugly to me) and a different pickup arrangement (don't like humbuckers in teles).

Thanks, it was a rare black sparkle finish and I've only seen a handful of them pop up over the years. I will probably never sell this bass, it just rocks too much.

Not sure about the different colors, I've only seen the black "bowling ball" sparkle finish like mine. There was an awesome 5 string that popped up about a year ago and I really thought about (to have a matching 4 and 5) but I'm a 4-stringer at heart - always will be.

They're pretty rare, but that finish looks 10x better in person than what my photo shows.

I have a G&L story, it is sad too. I traded an Ibanez GIO Bass, a Korg Electribe EMX, and a casio keyboard for a '96 ASAT with the MFD pickups, it was a beautiful blueburst. I was broke and trying to sell the guitar for what it is worth. Very few people in Florida are hip to G&L. I wanted to keep it so bad... I ended up trading it for an Ibanez Iceman (with the Deactivator pickups, plays metal really well) and a couple hundred dollars. Fuck I wish I could have kept that guitar, it played and sounded so good.
Here it is:

Someday maybe, for what I got that one for doubtful, I think I tallied it up and had less than $500 in it. That puppy was damn near mint, a couple of teeny little dents in the clearcoat on the backside, other than that nothing wrong. The hardshell case looked great too.
