Weirdly impenetrable, definitely.
FWIW, I actually set up a playlist for this after Radiohead were nice enough to give those of us who bought the record Supercollider & The Butcher for free. So it's Twisted Words>King Of Limbs>Supercollider/Butcher.
Rounds out to about fifty seven minutes... but I'm actually not sure that it makes the record better.
FWIW, I much preferred KOL to In Rainbows.

Low - C'Mon
Gillian Welch - Harrow & the Harvest
Wild Flag - Wild Flag
Tom Waits & True Widow & Boris will be there too. Just haven't gotten around to popping into the shop. (I am old fashioned and avoid downloads when possible)

ooh, in all honesty?
probably big baby gandhi's big fucking baby. fuck yeah. i spent most of this year discovering older music rather than listening to newer shit i think.
also CEG's album was awesome. took a while for it to click for me but holy shit.
oh wait, wu lyf's album came out this year. that was pretty good but after being really into them before their album came out and enduring all that random internet hype they got (seriously where did that come from?) it was kind of a huge letdown. i wanted everything to sound like the not-album version of heavy pop

I explored a lot of music history this year so I didn't listen to a ton of new music. Some of these have been mentioned already...
Tom Waits - Bad As Me, quite possibly the best of the 90's and on Tom Waits releases.
Glenn Jones - The Wanting, Such a great guitarist!
Thurston Moore - Demolished thoughts, A very different release for him but a complete success
Sea And Cake - Moonlight butterfly
Owen - Ghost Town, I just picked this record up about a week and a half ago but it definitely needs a mention. I just cannot stop listening.
Honorable mentions:
Pj Harvey - Let England Shake, I picked it up just because of all the attention... it was alright
Zola Jesus - Conatus, I really like this just haven't listened to it quite enough
J Mascis - Several Shades of Why, Ditto
V/A - Rave On Buddy Holly, Normally I hate comps and tributes but this is a fine collection of Buddy Holly covers... Yes even the fucking Kid Rock song is good
The Rural Alberta Advantage - Departing, Continuing in the same vein as the first one. Pretty good folkish rock stuff
Also the Radiohead album was disappointing especially for the people who bought the 50$ newspaper record (I think I only listened to the record once...maybe twice and the CD once).

It felt like such a half assed release. It seemed like they were evolving as a band and then they just took a step back for this album...
