Here's a pic of the original vintage model, the Television, that the modern Hollywood Custom is fashioned after:

I used to have one of these. I traded it for a shiva because i am stupid but looking back i loved my shiva way more than the framus which was nothing but problems. The trem on that thing was a reeeeeal piece of shit man. Yo i saw one of those hollywood custom things in....wait for it....a guitar shop in hollywood. I liked it alot but didnt think it was worth the like 5000 they were asking and i DONT like flamed maple.

He's in SC.

The Hollywoods were okayish price-wise when they were still mass-produced and you didn't have to pay protective taxes or whatever. But now they are like 2500 Euro a piece. No way I'm going to pay that when I can have someone build a guitar to my liking for even less. Cool that you had a Television. I do think they are worth more than a shiva, at least over here they are, so probably more so in the US. But somehow I can see you rocking a Shiva much more than that TV. Guess it was a good trade!

ahhh ok....i've really been into framus' lately as well. i played a new single cut hollywood reissue last year that just ruled. the volume swell (organ swell..or whatever they call it) is great fun. i never knew much about framus until recently when i started investigating. seems like a beater used one can be found for a decent price.
fuk man....nice guitar ya got coming, looking forward to seeing it finished. :thumb:

I really didnt know they were worth anything but in the end i didnt pay much for it. I think like 75 bux. I got it at a garage sale from some church that was moving and i guess they had some instruments lying around. In the end it was just a shitty guitar. The trem was fucked and the neck was uh....not really straight. The worst part about it was the chrome was flaking and would cut you if you werent careful. Yeah i remember the hollywood being cheaper by like a couple grand when framus first came back. It def caught my eye but like i said it had maaad flame maple and i really dont like that kinda stuff.

I didn't know they re-released that. Pretty awesome though I prefer the doublecut-shape (also available). Well, finally they got the names right. And it's not even that expensive. So that is why the prices for used ones went down. They are in pretty high esteem over here, lots of them floating around but usually people pay good money for those things. A beat-down 60's model one still gets half the price of one of the reissues.

Old Framuses are pretty awesome. A friend of mine has one of these, and it's totally kick-ass!

Yeah, he's located in Hartsville. His shop is called Fret And Necks Hartsville.
He's from Texas originally, I believe.
