I just got silly with some other 8 pin chips I had. None of them worked Ordering another 1044. Hopefully it works...
Plugged in my DOD GRUNGE into the infamous power supply. Works like a charm..

A 1044 is a converter so it makes negative voltage or acts as a charge pump, but it has a small window of input voltage it likes. A lot of things will run off like 8-25 volts no problems, but unfortunately the 1044 is amongst the chips that won't I've made an effort to use 7660s wherever I can with converter usage, because it's happy up to around 12v. I don't think the 1044 is a direct swap for a 7660 or vice versa, like the 1054 is. If I were a betting man ... 99% on it's your 1044. I'm stoked to see

I shared this in my current build thread .. but it's totally a confession too.. I am trying to calibrate my DC voltages on my PLL clone .. so I get the regulators and trim pots soldered in and plug in my AC power adapter and begin probing for voltages.. nothing. I start tweaking the trim pots .. nothing. I stare at it .. drink a beer... stare at ..

Oh.. I plugged in the 9VDC adapter end, which isn't plugged into the wall even.. not my 12VAC .. oops. Plugged that in.. works. Derrrrrr

It's nice to be back at work, where I can relax and not work so hard. We did have a nice dinner out at swanky restaurant for our anniversary, that was cool. I went to the DMV and got my Ohio drivers license, registered my new car and got my plates, put together our new bed frame, brought my oldest kid to and from school. Mostly I did errands. I only had two days back at work before the weekend though and Friday was our office Christmas party. So I got to do paperwork while everyone was being loud in the same room, but I got some tasty food lol.

Nice. I pretty much only went walking/hiking and when I was home listened to podcasts and watched 'Tough Crowd...' my whole vacation. I worked at my other job one day but I just kind riff there.

I didn't play much music while I was off which was odd. My buddy wants to recruit me for his band (in another city but not far). I think he wants a 'heavy' band but little does he know I've been rocking out to stuff like this lately.

I actively tried to play music on my vacation, but couldn't make it happen. Walt asked me to do a grind band and I have all the resources to get it started, but I have literally not had 15 free minutes to write anything or even put together a drum track yet. When I have time off, my wife tends to go "great, now I can go do stuff, watch the kids" and so then, by default, my only free time is when everyone is asleep. Not ideal for music times. Plus, I still haven't fixed up my basement to be more conducive to a jam/recording space yet.

I have a million bands I want to do and I never play music.

That Sparks band sounds cool. Sounds like a weird mix of Rush, ELO and Focus.
