that's legitimately one of my favourite neil young songs. Trans is a hell misunderstood album.
Anyway I got my neck today, it looks amazing. The quality of the machining on it is really, really impressive.

Beerhammer:
Schnikes: My own EGC GAS has been fuelled by ordinary people on internet forums who play in more or less obscure independent bands, whether or not the wanker from Weezer plays one means fuck all to me. I do realise, however, that other people's gear choices are influenced by different factors and I understand why someone who runs a custom guitar company would want famous people to play his guitars, but to give celebrity clients preferential treatment at the expense of the little guy is proper disrespectful. I'm sure the wait would be significantly shorter if there was at least one more company making aluminium guitars of comparable quality on a comparable scale. As much as I want one, I will not be placing an order until wait times are reduced to something reasonable. I mean, I'm fucked if I'll send $2500 to someone overseas who will send me a guitar whenever they bloody well please, my missus would feed my balls to the cat.
That said, I've played an EGC on a few occasions, and fucking hell it's the most magnificent instrument ever built by anyone anywhere.

^ Agreed. I came across EGC the same way, couldn't give a fuck who uses them (or any guitar for that matter) but I've slowly come to understand that's not how these things work. Sadly.

This is basically what im waiting for. I loved my egc and i really like the semihollow design but i will never, ever fucking deal with kevin again. Im not sure whether or not ill like the obstructures as its a radically different instrument and im not into the bastin designs. As far as harvester goes....im really not into them. I like the shapes and funky pickups but the way he welds aluminum plates to bar stock seems kinda derpy to me....so basically im here waiting for someone to come along and rip kevin off but not be a total dick and lower the prices somewhat to reflect what an honestly terrible investment they are......

I'd like to try an EGC to see how it compares to my Obstructures. I mean as far as pickups they are EGC pickups loaded in mine, but it's solid aluminum instead of a hollow body. I'm curious to see if there is much of a difference. I guess the Standard with P90's would be closest to mine

You can get a totally customised instrument for the same price as a Standard Gibson. As far as custom prices go, that's damn reasonable. Getting anything customised is always a bad investment though, resale wise.

It would be reasonable if the wait time, standard practices, and refund policy were different....but as it is I'm disinclined to call anything about it reasonable.

Has anybody ever bought a guitar new off obstructures? Sounds like their wait times are waaay shorter.

I know a guy overseas who did. I know the planning of the newest batch took forever but it seems like now that everything is designed that all they really have to do is cut them and assemble them like a machine!

more and more lately I like the idea of a 12 string bass... man.

that would be amazing, but might require special design to combat the massive neck dive that would result from twelve bass tuners...even if you used guitar tuners for the octaves it'd be the heaviest headstock not made of stainless steel.

Yeah, neck dive would requiring a true feat of engineering on that one.
