The track Be Nice to Me on the Todd Rundgren Anthology Vol. 1 is making me feel like this right now.

Completely

my dad is into light jazz (I know), christmas music and motown (the later part awesome but still)

before the light jazz era he loved George Benson.

I think I have heard Breezin about a thousand times. Hated it as a child.

Now it makes me cry with joy thinking about my childhood. I play it quite a bit and as I have gotten older have admired George as a very accomplished guitar player.

The first time my dad and I ever really bonded over music was when I was about 12. He got a record player and pulled all his old records out of the basement, sat me down in front of the stereo and put on Dark Side of the Moon. Changed my life, man.

Awesome! I got a lot of my music growing up from my dad, we have really similar taste for the most part. We swap new records and go to gigs all the time, it's especially nice because he can afford to buy more music than me.

Awesome, relaxing Saturday over here. Chilled around the house this morning, got an awesome sandwich for lunch, jammed with skullservant all afternoon, picked up some beer to go along with dinner on the way home.

Plus, how could you not love a drive back from skully's that looks like this? I swear I moved to the most beautiful area of the country.

while poking around on eBay looking at weird project shit (and becoming dangerously obsessed with the Soviet Stella stereo guitar) i stumbled across the proper replacement for the tremolo arm on the DDR Musima i'm working on with its proletarian takeoff on the Hagstrom term. now i need to get my guy to do the plastic parts and then decide what to do re: the rather rustic varnish and rough sanding on the body whose original sunburst disappeared ages ago. i also have to figure out the four-position tone switch schematic.

maybe I'm just on the upswing of a manic episode, but I woke up today totally stoked that I didn't die in my sleep. Life is not as shitty as it would appear sometimes.

This is going to be an excellent summer. I've got great friends. They're my drinking buddies, rocking climbing partners, camping companions, and fellow film nerds. I'm going to be recording some songs/second album with one of my best friends, and I've got another two man band thing going. This girl I met on craigslist is a lot more fun than I expected. And I've got my funding for graduate school in the fall worked out! :yay:

Something I've wanted to happen since October happened, read: a girl I've been interested in broke up with her bf.

^^^ Nice. I remember you talking about that back in October. Also, snips, you'll appreciate the rest of this post, since that breakdown I had on facebook with you a while back. I'ma hit you up tomorrow over all this and to hear about this girl, probably.

I decided to say "Fuck it" to putting myself into massive amounts of debt and investing 4 years into a career that I'm starting to think I'd hate (chemistry. I realized that the idea of a 9-5 office or lab job is absurdly sad to me), and I'm going to go to the nearby community college for Culinary Arts. I'll get my associates in that, and then start working in kitchens as a chef. If I dedicate myself to it, I might be able to get some really fantastic jobs as a cook in a cool restaurant someday, or maybe even open my own place.

It'll also save me a ton of longterm money, and give me a career that I'll be able to go anywhere to pursue.
I'm feeling pretty positive right now.
