Basically this. I'm a big fan of his, but as much for his TAAS and Botch playing as for his Russian Circles stuff. I wouldn't go as far as worship, but there is very little of his stuff that I haven't liked.

Since we're talking about Russian Circles, can someone explain the Brian Cook worship to me? I've listened to plenty of Russian Circles, certainly enough to form an opinion, and honestly I haven't noticed anything mind-blowing about the bass playing so far. I know that this is probably heresy, but I'm not getting why people gush over the guy.

I dunno, I appreciate the fact that he can create such simple, yet still very powerful basslines that make their point in the music. In Botch, These Arms are Snakes, Russian Circles he doesn't need a thousand notes to get his point across. His lines are simple, but they still drive the music forward where it needs to go.

I'm a fan of his too. But, I must confess... I found Botch and These Arms are Snakes pretty late and didn't even know he was in Russian Circles until I read it somewhere on TB. I do like what he does though.

Thanks, Grrface. My brother-in-law is kind of a bumblehead. So, I wouldn't trust him to put it together. My dad or I would have to do it. I've got some time to consider this purchase, my nephew's still a little too young. It is a bit on the expensive side for what it seems to be. Looks pretty nice though.
