You can't see the cigar box I built. It's back in the corner behind the portuguese guitar. I think I'll post a shot of it some time soon.

Absolutely. I love it too. It's my main guitar for everything but noise.

These are the only 2 I have anymore

The tele still has the cap sticking out (it's socket-ed), cause I can decide on one.

early spec'd tele's have a route under the pickguard that is used to help push the pickup wire from the neck position. i forget which years they did this... it's a 50's era thingie but they may have done it later and even discontinued it a couple times throughout the years. ... it's sometimes wrongly referred to as a smugglers route....but i like the term and it's misused enuff so i refer to the position as the smugglers pickup...... ANYWAYYYZZZZZ.....from the first time i saw that route, i've wanted to put the neck pickup there. i've always kept that thought in my head and a couple years ago i threw this together.

here's what's going on: it's just one pickup with 3 coils. the bridge part is 2 coils split between the 3rd and 4th strings. the low end coil is always on and the high end coils switch up. the neck pickup is actually a blade design but i wanted it to look like a stock tele PU.
position 1 = both bridge coils
position 2 = low end bridge / smuggler
position 3 = low end bridge / smuggler with a cap on the smuggler making it honky/mid shifty
push/pull phase on the volume for instant lo fi thinness.

this dood made the pickups for me...
http://www.creamtpickups.com/
he's awesome ....hand wound non potted pickups that sing.

i'm working a a 5 way design as well.....the thought behind it was simple. i like the tight low end that a tele bridge PU gives me and wanted to mix that with the smoothness of the neck position on the high end. this way i get both and more. plus it fuks with tele guys. :thumb:

sorry but i don't really have time to do demos. wish i did...

other than marty stuart and albert lee, i don't know...some country fukkers i suppose. i pieced together the guitar and they were on it when i bought it. i thought it was goofy for me to have a country fanboy guitar so i left them on there. a couple have worn off throughout the years ( i put it together in 92).

i love teles.
