That's really cool! Looks great. I've also got a plan to build a cab, would love the time/space to really get round to it.

Thanks! It took us a few days and definitely helped that my dad has a halfway decent woodworking shop. Would recommend finding plans before hand as most of our time was spent working it out as we went. The sides and baffle are 3/4" birch ply, back is 1/2" birch ply, and the bracing is 1 1/2" pine.

Very nice. My plan is to do the tiniest 1x12 I can get away with to see what happens - in theory for a really easy but still loud gig/practice rig for my "mostly clean guitar" band, got some 1/2" ply leftover from another project. The way you've braced it looks smart to me, and yeah I've seen a few plans floating around!

This was my amp setup in my band for the past few years:

We started playing with a bassist recently and so I will not only abandon my beloved Bass VI in favour of a plain and boring guitar. No, I will even give up my beloved amps for this little bugger here:

It's a '95 Laney VC30 2x10" and I just replaced the stock HH with a pair of Celestion G10 Vintage speakers and it sounds absolutely awesome.

Cool blasters. If ya gotta go plain guitar, make the bass user plug into that Peavey Musician. 70s Peavey saves lives.

Oh yes, this is precisely what we are doing.

Nice. Laney VC15 is my main band amp, been considering getting a VC30 for more volume (we almost always play places it can get mic'd but every now and then we can't and I'm not quite loud enough). Interesting I'd never thought of changing the speakers. Big difference?

i have a VC30 with 12” Greenbacks. it’s a great amp, but has some kind of electronic fault where it goes BRAAAAAAAP at random unexpected and inappropriate times. i should get it fixed.

Yes, it really made the amp much better. I have no experience with VC15 or the the 12" variants of VC30. Also the newer models have different speakers, too. But the upgrade from the HH Invader 10" in my VC30 was a good choice. I wouldn't say the Invader is crap, but it's kind of a rowdy. The Celestions are much more clear and precise and have a better balanced frequency range. Tighter bass, crispier treble, less aggressive mids. Can't tell if they're louder, though.

The 1x12" or 2x12"? I read several forum threads about the magnet of the speaker being too close to the tubes in the 1x12", causing all kinds of trouble due to magnetic interference. Lots of people install their speakers from the front side of the baffle to get rid of the problems. :idk:

two 12s. IIRC when i got mine in the 00s the 1x12 models had a Jensen speaker which really didn’t work well with that circuit. i love Jensens, but not in Laney combo amps with EL84s.
