Similar boat. I was 8th grade to Sophomore year of High School. I was only in it because my one friend group was...I am in touch with zero of those people now (which actually is a shame cause they were among my best friends at the time...plus they were really hot girls with big boobs).
I joined cause it was honestly fun at first but then they progressively brought this whole 'Jesus Aesthetic' and it got a little strange. I will say they were some of the most tolerant, accepting people I have ever met (which I know goes against the grain anecdotally). It was like an 'ontological' strange, not a social one.

I went to a church for a while when I was 14. The pastor banged a bunch of ladies and skimmed from the coffers. Somehow my mom intuited that (!?) and called him out. We were not welcome back.
Mom is crazy, but has some kind of sense for weird shit (no, she wasn't his type, I know what you're thinking). The one friend I retained is the pastor's son, who is one of the angriest dudes I know. Half Indian, half Irish rage-filled atheist. He's a Silicon Valley engineer building our robot overlords nowadays.
And my bride wonders why I'm not jacked to go to church.
Hallelujah.

I like thinking back and realizing how "ye of little faith, why do you doubt?" when jesus asked peter to reach out to him on the water, had touched me to where I was certain at 7yrs old that me continuously falling into my pool was just because I didn't truly "believe"

Why is this every pastor?
Pastor at the church I used to go to used to be really approachable and cool then went ice cold after the church started expanding exponentially. My dad always said something was going on with him, but most people there were too new to know how he was in the beginning.
Years later, he ended up committing suicide in the desert and it turned out he'd been cheating on his wife for years and there was all sorts of shit going on in the background that nobody knew about.

My first post in this thread was an account on pastors and prostitutes...idk glad I had that in my life, that "AHA!" moment. evil/live. It really is all ass backwards, angels are disgusting and devils are holy, holy for suffering the sins of man!

I keep seeing PLL and I don't know what that is. I refuse to Google it, I assume it's some sort of bleepbloop thingy. I only recently expanded beyond dirt pedals into cheap used Boss modulation and stuff, I'm not ready to know.

Almost every shitty megachurch in my hometown had a some shit-grinning preacher who'd get run out of town or go to jail for either stealing from or fucking the flock. Comical verging on deeply disturbing. How anybody believes in any of those charlatans is way beyond me.
