Full blown custom job or what?
I sent him a Danelectro longhorn bass body (first instrument I ever bought) to get an EGC neck + pickups, etc. and to have it repainted all black (neck black, but polished aluminum fingerboard). It'll be super sweet, I'm sure, it's just taken a while. Kevin mentioned that now that they're set up in the new shop they'll be able to do 'more fun stuff', so hopefully that means we'll see some other goofy custom projects popping up there too...?
My first guitar took about a year despite being told 6-9 months. My current guitar was due in March and still isn't here. The longer he takes the more I'm going to make changes which is partially my fault as well but if he was done I wouldn't keep thinking of changes. My V that he made is truly an amazing guitar and has become the one I play far more than others. The problem I have is that he waaaaay underestimates the time frame and he also has no problem telling you your guitar will be done in a few days and will then take several months more all the while promising that it's just about done. I always had the suspicion that guitars for bigger named clients were jumping ahead of me. I was the first one to order a double neck from him and yet some other guy just had his finished while I would venture to guess that mine won't be done till the end of the year sadly.

How much did he quote you for the neck if you don't mind me asking? I was thinking of getting one made too.
Depends on if you want only a neck or neck through. I think the range is 800-1200.
yeah it was aroun the 750 - 800 mark. Can't quite remember.

This is the thing that really flipped me at first. The guys over at electrical audio basically confirmed that this is business as usual over at egc.

I believe LTG was saying their business practices near mirror that of EGC's, and it was hypocritical of them to spill the beans on EGC's practices because of that.

Why would it be any other way, though? It's in their interest to deliver more quickly for higher-profile clients. If they'd publicly declared some kind of 'first come, first served, no matter what' guarantee and were going against that, that would be one thing... as it is, I don't understand the surprise that a company like this might bump my order for a big name client.
Brent Hinds gets a new EGC V every few months it seems. That doesn't bother me, totally get it from a business/marketing perspective. I don't think you'd find many builders, guitar/pedal/amp/whatever, that wouldn't prioritize in the exact same fashion.
