Okay, this is actually pretty cool.

Yeah, I am just about full and I haven't achieved my goals yet, got sidetracked by trying to build a music production station in 7U when I should have focused on treating the case as it's own instrument instead. Now I am out of room and not as diverse as I once dreamed. There are too many interesting modules I would like to try still, maybe a good problem to have. Not sure if I should expand and if I do how to do it. A skiff? Buy a 2nd 7U case? Wait for an eventual expansion lid? Get a bigger, future-expandable rack and keep my current 7U for gigs/travelling? Where does it end?Dark Barn wrote:QPAS might be my po man’s Res-4, close enough for me?
Too bad I’m full on HP, maybe I should get another case but, fuck man, where does it end?

This is all sounding very familiar to what I said when I decided to drastically downsize my setupcodetocontra wrote:Yeah, I am just about full and I haven't achieved my goals yet, got sidetracked by trying to build a music production station in 7U when I should have focused on treating the case as it's own instrument instead. Yeah I freaked out when they started modulating the cutoff frequency and radiate settings on that sample thru the SP. It sounded just like some of the best Animal Collective filter/formant sounds, and (as if they rest of the demo hadn't) completely sold me on it. Luckily I unloaded by MMG last week, I imagine their price will plummet now that there's a new shiny Make Noise filter. I've never heard a filter that made me think "boy I'd love to run a whole stereo mix through that" before, but here we areyeatsvisitslincoln wrote:That Smile output on QPAS sounded great with the sample running through it in the demo last night.
so. yeah. no more interest. woot! saved 3 hundred!Muse FTW wrote:Arturia is just using what MI has released as open source designs. Not a real "collaboration" since she had no say in the implementation.desolationjones wrote:That postage stamp screen is adorable :hihi:
MI's brevity of response has me thinking that they are not entirely pleased with the final package... hopefully that displeasure is limited to the branding and not the implementation of the synth engines!
Per reddit post: "They put Plaits' code in a design about which I had nothing to said. Paid in PR."
Advertising it as 'our partners at Mutable Instruments', and 'collaborations with Mutable Instruments' is kind of disingenuous. Totally not supporting this instrument now. Buying more MI modules instead lol.
Oh, well that killed any gas I had for it. I didn't even know that Plaits was part of it, but it's kind of ridiculous they're calling it a collaborationbehndy wrote:'m not the biggest fan of how it looks, but the MicroFreak sounds.... interesting. CV out, PCB keys, Karplus-Strong, Wavetable, and Virtual Analog oscillator types, Mutable put Plaits in it?
and only 3 hundy.
kinda interested.
edit - annnnnnd never mind. didna realize it looks like the fucked Emilie on the "Mutables Collaboration".
