Had to do a couple hours Overtime at work this week, bought HZD with the extra earnings, lol.

It's pretty good so far, very solidly made with tonnes of detail and world building. If anything it's making me super excited to play Kojima's new game - considering he's using Horizon's game engine. Though, It is very 'Far Cry' like with ingredient/component harvesting so I hope the story keeps me invested.

EDIT:
It also looks insanely beautiful, PCMR my ass.

Oh yeah, Death Stranding is one of my most anticipated games! Also, the story is what has me staying with HZD. Though there is some really cool combat, the story is well paced and keeps getting deeper and better. It is not often that I have a conversation, about what is going on in a video game, over breakfast.

Breath of the Wild is amazing. I say this as a really casual gamer who only really play Zelda, but fucking hell.

So the switch is sold out everywhere in Sydney, at least at all the regular stores.
I managed to grab the last one at a department store. Zelda is pretty much sold out everywhere. Took me about 6 hours to track a copy down
Seems like Nintendo pulled another undersupply move. Stores told me they don't know when the next shipment is.
Zelda so far is great. It's like open world but nintendo open world so it's different to like FFXV or like Far Cry with the constant fetch quests

oscillateur wrote:Video games take a lot of time, talent and money to make. DLC that is properly designed (i.e. actually additional content, that does not detract from the base experience) is a good way for developers to get a better return on their investment, basically, as it's a bit less expensive to make as it's built on the base game (on all aspects, both technical and marketing/recognition/etc.).

I have no problem with DLC that is smartly designed. I bought all the Dark Souls and Bloodborne DLCs ever and they're the type I'm talking about : purely additional stuff. That takes time/talent/money to create, I repeat. We need someone to pay our salaries, you know.
IMO sour tude toward DLC is from games released incomplete, or when a field of play unfairly tilts against the player unless [DLC] is purchased.
It could be argued such a business model is smartly designed but that is a matter of opinion.

Players...the ones who spend a lot of time (and money) playing the games...tend to understand and be sympathetic toward the effort that goes into a production people want to play, replay. Personally, I don't mind shelling out for DLC if it's an expansion to an already complete, gem of a game [i.e. Diablo: Hellfire]. However, when a game is unnecessarily presented in an episodic format or worse; a la carte then it feels like I'm being teased and then gouged.

Once upon a time an employer, usually corporate (Capcom, Technos, Square et al) paid salary to devs as an investment, yeah?
The game's success recoups and provides ROI; incentive to make another game, or expand upon the current game.
Consumers don't pay dev salary unless a project is crowd-funded...which is opening a whole other can of worms :whoa:

Started playing Nuclear Throne again.
This sort of game seems to be able to keep my attention for a little while. Maybe I just need "roguelike-ish" games that aren't strictly tile-based RPGs. With animations.

You can buy components from a trader in Meridian city.

They're a little pricey, but if you loot everything and sell it all then it wouldn't be too steep.

EDIT:
Just reached an amazing location that speaks directly to my inner geek. Found some massive Derelict machine that looks almost like a Reaper from ME and a Sentinel from The Matrix. So rad, this game is already becoming a favourite.

Some of the battles are almost like a Metal Gear boss fight.

So people that have Breath of the Wild, how is it? I'm still hesitant on buying a Switch just for this game, but damn it looks good.

If the Switch doesn't get shit games wise I might just pick up a Wii U once those prices go down.
