It's pretty damn neat.
I really only spent a few hours with Pure Data in total, but that's all it really takes to start seeing what's going on with the patches.

Best feature:
Help.
You can click on any object and pull up a concise help tab that explains what it does, and shows a functional example of it in use.
Best bit? You can copy and paste that functional example.

I wanted to integrate an envelope follower into a patch, but I didn't even know where to begin.
So I simply created the base object, pulled up its help tab, and copy-pasted the example it gave me.

So neat.

Who wants to put it on his pedalboard? I was thinking about putting it in a LS-2 loop...

No, there's no amp in there - tone fairies and feedback goblins live inside this box.

I'm gonna have to dig into Pure Data when I get back.

Do you have control over the individual inputs and outputs on the back of the device in PD? I'm trying to think of how I could work out some modular interconnectivity.

There's a USB midi to CV module, I forgot the name. But they said it was the only way to get CV out of the organelle.

Can someone help parse the installation instructions for pd? I really want to try this out, and perhaps I shouldn't because if I am this much of a dumbass..................but I've been using computers for over 30 years, programmed on a Radio Shack Color Computer as a youngun, and this shit makes no sense to me.

"Quick compilation instructions for Gnu/linux or Mac OSX, or Windows if you have
installed gygwin: make sure "automake" is installed as well as the usual C
compiler chain. Then in this directory, run the following commands:
./autogen.sh
./configure
make

If you need jack support, add the corresponding flag to "configure":

./configure --enable-jack

Alternatively, you can use the fallback makefiles in "src" for gnu/linux, Mac
OSX, or Microsoft Visual C. On linux, for example, cd to src and type "make -f
makefile.gnu" and (if you wish) "sudo make -f makefile.gnu install".

Special instructions for Microsoft Visual C: cd to src and type "make -f
makefile.nt". Then CD to the various subdirs of extra and type "make nt" in
each.

Various dependencies: in linux and Mac you need TK (apparently always present
for Mac and usually there for linux). On linux you may also need an ALSA
"dev" package: (yum install alsa-lib-devel) or (apt-get install libasound2-dev)."

I haven't figured it out either.

I got an outdated version through Mint's package manager, but I do most of pd-ing on my windows partition which has an installer for the latest. Linux has much better latency though...

What am I missing? That's the same thing I downloaded but the installation instructions are still the same. I probably should be embarassed, huh?

Are you on Windows? Are you grabbing the one labelled 'Windows Installer'?

Win8.1 and I downloaded 0.46-7 compiled for Microsoft Windows. I open the zip and see a bunch of folders plus license.txt and install.txt. I open install.txt and what I copied/pasted in the prior post is what I see,

You don't want the zip, you want the installer:

What I really want to do is replace a Ditto X4, actually three of them.
/
First, is the Organelle true stereo like a Ditto X4? Can I program it to keep the Left Input/Output always separated from the Right Input/Output?

Second, is the midi input channel configurable, so if I had three of them hooked up and programmed my midi foot controller to send on specific channels, the respective Organelle would respond?

If those two things work in my favor, I see no reason why three of these with a 12 button midi controller could not replace three Ditto X4's. Right?

Edit: Actually third, is it possible to be able to play the loop like a sampling keyboard?

And fourth, will these respond to midi clock so I can sync three of them?

I think to connect a few of them together you would need to get a little fancy with the USB architecture, unless the Organelle supports USB-on-the-go.
