This is one of the few cases where I think the 'scene' is cool, but the music is kind of silly (in an unaware way). 99% of the time it is the inverse for me.
Maybe 'silly' isn't the right word so much as 'flat'?
Neon, maybe you should go out with a Zef gurl?

I'm pretty sure everything they do is curated down to the last detail. They've got backgrounds in performance art... sometimes I've wished that they were just naive kids straight off the street, but I also appreciate the detailed creation of their whole thing.
Either way, I can't believe they've lasted this long.

I agree with you on both counts. 1. The curation - I do enjoy it 2. Can't believe they've lasted this long.
Like I said, I TRIED to get into them. I WANTED to.
Has it really be 5 years? I watched the last season of GIRLS the other day and was like 'FUARK'...I remembered when that show premiered...I'm going to miss those girls so much...

It's been longer than 5 years... I remember seeing them live (which was surprisingly INSANELY good) during my heavily boozy years, which was pre 2012. Been a while.

Shit, 2010. This was the first thing I saw, still love it. I kinda wish they'd stayed a little vignette.

I love music 'scenes' like that. Just people being really into what they have and minding their business. Again, I know this is a simulation but I do think it is cool.
*EDIT, nonsense rant below
"Hey, we're below the poverty line in a 3rd world country (2nd?) but it's fine...we zef"
I follow this blog 'Easterndaze' and they have a lot of 'scenes' similar to the socio-economics of Zef...but in Eastern Europe. Like a lot of trashy techno, distorted trance and trashy underground beats meets sound collage and maybe dubious communal politics (not that dissimilar from gangs...but like weird apparitions of Marxist gangs or some bullshit). Even if I don't agree with what they stand for 1. The music is way far out 2. It is more substantive than say 'the noise scene that enforces tumblr ethical relativism and linguistic practice' or Power Electronics scenes that rely on the clashing dichotomy of "transgressive" artwork/artists and folks obsessed in the minutia of arbitrary identity politics.

I've had a few dom friends over the years, and they always had such good stories. One of my favorites, just because it's so weird: one of my friend's clients used to ask her to come over wearing just normal stuff, jeans and a tee or whatever. He'd then lift up a couch cushion, get on all fours and and stick his head in there, and she'd just sit on his head. That was it. He "liked the pressure."

But she plays guitar and she told me she wanted my jazzmaster. Fuck my life.
Also, band practice was awesome and I'm drunk.

So should we start passing the hat around for Neon's new jazzy already?
