I couldn't read the scrawl, it looked just like somebody marking some shit they owned.

I usually mark my pedals by peeing on 'em.
(now i have to go find a photo of a purple pedal so this page has one on it.)

Aside from being a huge photo, how's that?

I can accept that, and it appears to be lacking graffiti.

So for future reference, apparently "has 'FUCKER' crudely scrawled on it" = "some signs of wear and tear."

I had one of these years ago. I liked to increase the
Speed pot to use it as a modulation effect on my synths. There was an envelope junkie (blogger?) whom I used to cross paths with a lot, and he felt it was noisy on bass. I don't remember having any noise issues with mine, but I sold it and just never got around to replacing it. Eventually I ended up with the Prometheus DLX, which was a deeper and more expansive filter at the time.
WMD was working on an updated version for a while, before revamping it as the Protostar. It just depends on your budget. If you can get a Protostar, get that one. If you want funk/auto-wah/sharp filtering and don't want to spend a lot, the Super Fatman will probably cover a lot of your needs.

This looks
purple to me, but I wonder if it will be
navy blue on Chankgeez's 1990s Dell monitor.

To be fair, it's what I have my desktop calibrated to as well with a generic but exciting purple background.
Even when I cannot find purple to make me happy on a musical device, I has the same purple background on three machines:
