Dude, I'd totally forgotten about Pennys! They look so kick ass.
yeah they are awesome
especially for fiddy shipped

one annoyance the bottoms were filthy like someone walked through grass
they cleaned up great but the original pics showed em as clean
think the dude wore em after he took the pics

arrived today, not nearly as bad as I thought.
once paints arrive some time this week it's gonna be pretty easy to do
basically...
mid soles need to be stripped and repainted cause theres a lot of cracking, and all the white is faded and dirty, oh and the elephant print is faded and cracking
plus there are a lot of scratches and scuffs that I'm gonna fix
shit I forgot to order cement grey....thats another week, god damnit
ah well

anyway, they're nice. Real nice.
like hard to let go off-nice
I've never owned 3s, I'm regretting that now

that is awesome, how are you getting the creases out?

two step process
a SHIT ton of plastic bags stuffed into the toe box
if I had the original cardboard inserts I would've put them in then pushed them up with the plastic bags to shape it out
then
I takewet t-shirt and put it over the toe box, and little by little ironing over it to steam out the creases

granted this works a lot better if they're not both super creased, with this pair only one was WAY creased, guessing the dude used em to ball in and put all his weight into his left foot, so it's got this one stupidly deep crease that i can't get out.
the right has some deep ones too but not quite as bad.

I do this process on each shoe a few times, then let them rest for a while, then keep going.
eventually I get to the point that there isn't anymore that can be done

gotta be careful cause you can crack the leather if you go too hard in it
with these there was already a tiny crack in it that I didn't see and I made it a little bigger.
Not ideal but it's all gravy, gonna do my best to paint over and fix it

whats cool about these is that after the toe box and some general cleaning (deep cleaning) and then painting the midsole all around, and cleaning up a few scratches, they'll be done
I need to get a leatherman though, for stripping midsoles way faster than acetone and without the possibility of staining.
I get real tired of masking off edges

I find myself in an unusual circumstance where I need shoes specifically, and exclusively, for when I'm making music. So....

Query: what are the best shoes for playing?

I always play in chisel toe RM Williams boots. Comfy as hell, no laces to worry about, and the toe is perfect for hitting stomp switches. It's at the point for me where it's way easier changing guitars and using one I haven't played for a while than using different shoes (!).

When I play I want to have maximum easiness getting to my pedalboard.

I like Vans Classics quite a bit, or any knock off thereof.

Recently I bought a pair of Toms at a discount shop (don't think I'd ever pay full price for 'em) and I really like those for playing because they're so tiny and low profile it's like playing barefoot but not being bummed about slamming on a switch with my bare assed foot.

 I've had them for a few years but, the tread is fine, the glue should not have gone… this is the second time I've had Dr Martins that did not last as long as everyone else says..
