I still think they should have gone even more over-the-top. Just....soooo.... GOOD.

reading about the v-bass it seems cool but I cant for the life of me find a single cool video. They all seem cheesy as hell.

Yeah...I've torn the interwebz apart trying to find SOMEONE who has a clue as to what to do with it. I saw a local player a few years ago who had one and she could make the thing sing like angels.

Yeah those videos for the V-Bass are pretty chessy, and in general Roland Presets are kind of cheesy. But...they are powerful machines and kind do a lot if you dig into them. I am kind of wishing I kept my GR-55...
Anyways, there are better videos on the VB-99. Check out the one by a dude named Bubby something, he plays Bass for Snoop. Most of the sounds he is using are kind of Blah, but see how fast he is playing and that there really isn't any latency...
If the GR-55 tracked bass that well, I would have kept it.

Well, there are plenty of parameters to tweak to remove the cheese factor. Then add the built in effects on top, they can do awesome things. But yeah most of the sounds in the demo are lame.

That could just be the players....too many fucking bass players are stuck in the 80's.

Pretty much is that too. A big feature of the VB-99 is the amp AND bass modeling. A lot of these people are being anal about what bass and amp what being used on the studio recording. Hell the VB-99 does STRING modeling...
I just want to make AWESOME SYNTH NOISE...and use the effects with and without the synth aspect.
