which is sort of like assuming that advocates of gun owners' rights are terrorists, or advocates of gay rights pedophiles. any logical position has at some point been applied to justify the indefensible.

I wouldn't say it's quite like those, in that at one point in history people did want their states to be allowed slaves. The two things you mentioned are completely insane assumptions. Though I suppose since no states allow slavery, in this day and age it IS completely insane.

well, a small percentage of gay rights advocates are also NAMBLA types (n.b. "NAMBLA" is the North American Man-Boy Love Association, which as its name implies advocates decriminalizing sex between male adults and male children), and a small percentage of gun advocates are also militia nutcases. like i said, every group has its lunatic fringe.

I'm pretty sure Mauritania still has slavery, even though they "officially" abandoned it in the eighties.

You're completely mistaken with this one. Sorry, but that's wrong.

Actually, no, you're completely fucking wrong. "States' Rights" in this day and age is nothing more than trying to bar the federal government from preventing the braindead state governments from outlawing abortion and killing gay people.

http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/ron-pa ... amendment/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_ ... odomy_laws

Also, as for marriage becoming a "private contract" ? Fuck right the hell off. Marriage is not just a vow of commitment in this day and age and just sweeping it under the rug like that? Not acceptable.

What happens to the tax exemptions, the visitation rights, the child custody? What's going to happen when one party tampers with the contract and screws the other spouse out of everything in a divorce?

Also, finally, the federal debt. Federal debt is not like private debt. It doesn't have to be paid off. Anyone who wants you to worry about the federal debt is just trying to get you to get on board with the idea of destroying our social services.

Edit: On a personal note, I also refuse to vote for anyone who outright says he doesn't believe in evolution. And don't give me bullshit about "not researching" my points. I've had Ron Paul's dick shoved down my throat for the better part of the last 8 years.

Look, I'm just going to avoid a massive bullshit back and forth, which has already started here by saying that I'm a grassroots republican. State's rights are so that people can better dictate how the area they live in is governed. The federal government is a massive buttfuck of people trying to blanket issues across a landmass and population that are absurdly difficult to apply general laws to. That's how I see it. I just think there's too many people over too much space for us to have such a powerful federal government.

Oh, and the federal debt does actually have to be paid. The US has to at least make the interest payments, something we've been unable to do recently, which is why our national credit rating has dropped from AAA+ to AA in the last year. source.

If the national debt continues to increase, and interest at compound continues at the rate it has been, the US credit rate will drop further, devaluing our dollar thanks to a floating economic system, and cause a national depression which has already started with the recession we've been experiencing. :poke:

The credit rating dropped because of stupid partisan bickering heavily rooted in antiquated notions like "state's rights."

Now, if you want to talk about the PFA/SFS debate, (which is, of course, between the two fledgling programs Pancakes For All and Sandwiches for Some) I'd be down.

Well, most of the members of NAMBLA (and most pedophiles in general) tend to not consider themselves to be gay. In fact, it's considered to be it's own orientation. Consider, http://www.time.com/time/magazine/artic ... z0zwe1OFiH

Apparently, I was supposed to get a call telling me that I didn't have to come in for mandatory overtime today.

I never received a call like that.
