I was just thinking about this on the drive home. Happened a few years ago and I was with my bitch of an ex girlfriend so nothing came of it. Wish I could have explored that option.

im my experience these connections burn out fast and horribly, good job avoiding it bro, i wish i did; im still fucked up.

Oh I was just thinking about what would have happened, probably would have turned out better than the shitstorm I was in with the redhead. I'm happy as can be with the current gf, glad I found her.

Gotcha, glad to hear it. A good woman is a wonderful thing to have in your life. Especially if they can cook.

I've yet to date a girl who can cook worth a damn, I'm a decent cook so it's not that big of a deal but it would be a huge bonus.

I've never dated a girl that could really cook either. Not a big deal since I love cooking, but occasionally it'd be nice to be treated to a meal I didn't make.

My current girlfriend tried to make pancakes for me about a week after we started seeing each other. She somehow got a pancake to stick to the entire bottom of a pan. I don't know how that even happens. She'll never live that one down.

Also, fuck yeah to this quote:

Mike Sullivan (Russian Circles) wrote: ...many metal guitarists tune down so low, playing through massive walls of cabinets, and you can hardly hear the bass player. Let the bass player take care of the low end and add some highs, because without highs there’s also an absence of low end in an odd way. Being low is a big trend now, but some metal guitarists miss the mark by neglecting the higher end. The guitar is a unique and very versatile instrument, and I think those players kind of forget all of the things a guitar can do.

Fuck yeah.

The worst thing though is when people use alternate tunings, but then they instantly don't know what notes they're playing.

"Ok, so what chord is that?"
"Uhhhhh, this fret."
"Ok, that's not going to help. What notes are you playing?"
"Uhhhhh, this. (indicates I should visually be able to read their fingers)"
"I don't know what that is. Just tell me the note and I'll play along with it."
"Uhhhh, why don't you just tune to what I'm tuned to?"
"Because I'm a musician. Get the fuck out of here."

But I don't play metal and therefore occasionally have to deal with things like improvisation and non-stringed instruments.

My brother left his socks under the computer desk again and I just felt them with my feet. he's asleep so I'm going to go put them on his face. What else am I supposed to do as a brother?

I feel you, but actually from the opposite perspective: I was playing with these dudes and was using an alternate tuning on guitar.I wanted to tell the bassist what the root to each chord was so he could use it as an outline to go off of, but he had no idea what notes where which on his fretboard.

Like, it can take me a second to figure out string + fret = this note, and I realize theory isn't for everyone, but it's so helpful to know the basics.

Yeah, more or less all I ask is you be able to identify a note by it's letter name on at least the bottom two strings.
