Re: The Netflix/Hulu/Prime Thread
I tried watching Ozark last night at work. It would be a lot easier to enjoy if there wasn't an obnoxious dark grey filter on absolutely every single scene. I get that they want it to be tense and gritty, but it just feels like I need to turn the screen brightness up and gets really exhausting to watch.

I'd ask someone to explain what is funny about Seth Rogen, but I realized it's just not my thing. So...why. Also, I imagine his dumb ass scoring the laugh track with his own annoying chuckling.actual wrote:Since ya'll are praising Future Man, I'm gonna give it a go.

Re: The Netflix/Hulu/Prime Thread
Seth Rogen didn't write it, he just executive produced it and directed one episode. Which I think essentially means he just put his money and backing to getting it made.
I watched the whole thing. It was entertaining, but I'm not going to bat for it or anything. Humor is subjective, I found some of it funny and some of it tiresome. In the end though, I will just watch pretty much anything sci-fi related, especially anything time travel. I think it took those aspects more or less seriously, just with very over the top absurd and dirty humor. I would still watch it if it were completely seriously and had none of the pop culture references/humor. They really push the cheeky meta pop culture reference stuff, which is not my favorite thing, but I did enjoy some plot driven elements they did with it, if not the grossout humor focus of a lot of them.
I did kind of enjoy the James Cameron episode/jokes though, if I'm being honest.

It might be nostalgia, but from Freaks and Geeks to Superbad and Pineapple Express etc. Rogen and his buddies like James Franco, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, etc. were a big part of my early teens. They bring comfort in a way I guess. Also they're hilarious, but humour's subjective of course.

Have you seen Why Him? I went in thinking it was going to be terrible and I generally can't stand cringe humour, but I actually laughed through the entire movie. It was surprisingly good.actual wrote:It might be nostalgia, but from Freaks and Geeks to Superbad and Pineapple Express etc. Rogen and his buddies like James Franco, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, etc. were a big part of my early teens. Seems like Marvel can't last five seconds without a new TV show.
Runaways looks like it might be interesting, though.

Just watched the first episode. There were a few cornbally bits, but I think this’ll kick ass once it gets rolling.jrfox92 wrote:This new Punisher series is seriously hardcore.
It’s nice to have a peak inside Frank’s head.
And the disarming of armed interlopers is unnecessarily brutal, which I love.
The New mutants trailer is pretty rad. I am definitely intrigued.

Also Hell Broke Luce by Tom Waits during the fight at the construction site was a great choice.
