I gained about 14 kilograms last year after being dumped and losing my job due to epilepsy. So i was drinking a lot and eating crap food all the time.
About two months ago i started going to a gym and no i am starting to drop some weight and i am thinking twice before having seconds at dinner and don´t drink as much. Just one beer the past 3 weeks.
I won´t do some diet because i know i wouldn´t keep it up for more then a week, but i think regular exercise will do the trick.

So brand new game plan for me! Hahaha
I am now 187lbs from 212 12 (or 13?) weeks ago. My coach and I decided to put me on a 16 week bulk so that I can gain more muscle mass on my back and chest. Everything else is big enough. Haha. It's all very specific. Weird stuff. So I'm doing a 16 week bulk, and 16 week cut after that. So I'm sure I'm going to go back up in weight, but it doesn't matter. All for the gains bros. All for the gains.

My new work out routine is fucking kicking my ass. So is my diet. My God. I went from eating almost no carbs to having carbs every single meal. It's insane. I've gaine 4lbs in a week. Haha. I can actually see definition better now than I did before because no carbs was making my muscle flat and now they are fuller. My arms went up like an inch in size already.
It's so weird. I'm doing a count on the negative and positive portion of some lifts. OMG that shit is so fucking hard. My chest press weight and leg press weight has been cut almost in half because of the difficulty.
Plus no cardio now for 16 weeks. Hahaha. Just when I was getting good at it.

I haven't done cardio in a whiiiiiile either. I think I should, probably, but I'm worried about stinting the strength gains I'm making. This gymnastics stuff is haaaaaard. I've been focusing on the handstand pushups, though, and getting some more reps out of them on my parallettes. Used be able to only do sets of 3, but I'm up to 4 and sometimes 5 now. Still working on a greater range of motion, though.

Yesterday I went to a lake up in PA with my mom and grandparents. My mom recently REALLY got into Kayaking, enough so that she bought her own about a week or two ago. We brought it up to the lake yesterday. I'd never kayaked before, but I ended up going about 4 miles total. It felt nice, I had all this built up energy for whatever reason. Felt good to get all that stretching in too

It's awesome dude, you should totally try it! Was really relaxing to be in the middle of the lake without any technology as well haha
I made it my goal to get to this overpass that was a bridge over the lake for cars. It looked so far away. Took like 20-30 minutes to get there, but only 10 minutes to get back haha

I'm currently in the middle of a short period of no alcohol.
It's brutal. It's only been four days so far and it feels like months. Another 7 days to go.
I'm starting to think that your alcohol consumption relates in some way to being a city person or not. Most of my friends that live in the suburbs don't drink that much. Whereas my city friends all drink almost every day. I was having lunch with my friend Celia a couple days ago and telling her how I wasn't drinking for like a week and a half, and she said "I know someone that went two weeks once." Like that was an absurd amount of time.

I've been there. I live in a city. What cut me back so much was that I really started getting into strength training, and since I'm kind of OCD about exercise, I kept on telling myself that drinking any alcohol was going to upset my sugar/fat balance or screw with my recovery or something. Later on, I found out that it's ok in smaller amounts, and there are ways to plan your diet for the days you want to drink that will help minimize the "damage." Also, once I talked to a friend about how I was wanting to quit or at least severely cut back, and he was into bodybuilding....so he said, "you have to find something that you love more." Once I cut back a TON, and downright quit a few times, it became less and less something I gave a shit about. Nowadays when I have a drink or two it feels like plenty and I don't even want any more.
Plus I don't have enough money to buy alcohol on a regular basis, even if I wanted to.

I decided to step it up from a mostly machine-based workout and started working with a trainer on barbell strength training stuff last week. So far we've mostly been doing squats and deadlifts and working on my flexibility. Initially I was terrified of barbells since you can drop them, but now I'm pretty sure I was more likely to injure myself having shitty form on machines. I also don't understand why people seem to hate leg day so much because right now squats are my favorite thing ever. FEELS SO GOOD MAN WANNA DO SQUATS ALL DAYYYY

Good luck dude
That's like smoking green for me. Just had to go 21 days for my job search/hiring process. I don't think I've had any alcohol in the past two weeks and never even think about (I live in the city too). But three weeks without bud was brutal mostly because it worked way better than medication for my anxiety/insomnia. I eased off the meds quite a while ago so I just had to deal with the anxiety and not sleeping until 4am every night. I noticed after I stopped smoking my appetite was reduced significantly. I still ate enough every day, but I had to actively get myself too rather than just waiting to feel hungry.

Does anyone here have a hard time playing guitar after doing any sort of strength training? I've been doing gymnastic-inspired strength training, but since it's so grip-oriented, oftentimes my hands just refuse to do any sort of fine motor work afterwards. Does anyone experience this after lifting weights?

Yes. I had to switch up some of my lifting techniques and lighten weight because of this. I was getting pretty bad tendinitis to where I couldn't even play. Since I'm doing controlled negatives now, I don't need as much weight, but I'm creeping up there again. It's a delicate balance. Sucks.

Dammit. I was hoping that weights might be less strenuous. I would try and work out far apart from playing, but it's difficult with my schedule. Is it mostly from pulling lifts, as opposed to pushing lifts?
