I think Trump used a similar move with Stormy Daniels.

Curious to see if the killing of the police officer in CA - Newman - can be analyzed as objectively as possible with regard to illegal immigration.

i think the proper question would be "what percentage of cop-killers are US citizens?" for which the likely answer is > 95%.

Even if it were 99% the point is if there are ways to lower the exposure of law enforcement - and American citizens - from violence by people that in the USA illegally those ways should be utilized. There are also people - also undocumented or not - that are killed by people in this country illegally. In this case, part of that discussion should be about SB 54 and whether it is a just and effective measure.

so it's better to "protect" cops (who are the enemy, the enforcers of white supremacy) from 1% of the population rather than 99%. seems a bit racist/xenophobic to me.

The amount of resources necessary to (and the collateral damage that would result from) putting in place the infrastructure to completely prevent people from entering the country illegally would be astronomical; much more than the $5 to 6 billion Trump wants to squander on a largely symbolic and ineffectual wall. To spend these resources in an effort to solve a problem that effectively doesn't exist (as per your suggestion, protecting American citizens from violent illegal immigrants) would be beyond stupid. The problem is violence, not immigration, so take steps to address the problem. CA SB 54 actually
is one such step because it helps ensure cooperative witnesses in investigations of violent crimes, and keeps resources from being diverted to rounding up and deporting a body of almost entirely harmless and productive people.

Why not just expel all American citizens? They are responsible for a higher proportion of anti-cop and violent crime than undocumented immigrants and green card holders. Just seems reasonable if we really care about protecting cops and reducing violent crime.

What if we just legalize all drugs and allow more folks from our neighboring country to immigrate legally? It would eliminate the revenue that incentivizes participation in organized crime. If cops wouldn't be putting themselves in the path of humanity's natural tendencies to
a) get high
and
b) move freely around a landmass
maybe they wouldn't get shot as often?
Edit: Faldoe, I'm really not trying to be a dick or tow a party line here. Im not a marxist or any kind of -ist. Just trying to be real about the root causes of violence as I have experienced them.

I am 100% in favor of building the wall. We need to stop this shit before it gets out of hand.
After that's complete, we need to fund and construct a wall at the northern border.
Contain the chaos and halt its spread when society breaks down and an apocalyptic post-Trump tribal warfare hellscape is all that remains of the USA.

You have got to be kidding. I’m not surprised if you’re not as that seems like a kind of stock regurgitation of left leaning thought.
You strawmaned my point hard and saw what you wanted to see.
My point wasn’t about protecting cops over any other population. As a country, the laws and policies therein should be concerned with protecting all of its citizens: cops are citizens, as are non cops. People here illegally while not being legal citizens are still citizens in so far as they are here and shouldn’t have to endure violence either - hence my point about people here illegally being subject to violence by other people that are also here illegally.
We shouldn’t deport every person that is here illegally.
An example: two men, both here illegally. One has a job and commits no crimes, does the best they can to get by. The other man may also have a job and or engages in illegal activity: gang activity in which violence is used, selling drugs, theft, etc.
While both of them are here illegally, the former should not necessarily be sought out for deportation. Yes, he is in violation of the law by being here illegally but the latter guy and people like him are the problem. Law enforcement should not be hindered in any way in going after people like the latter guy. It’s that simple.
