I don't think I washed my travel cup out very well, cuz my water stated to taste a little like dish soap. & now my stomach is starting to hurt. Fuck.

Also, my mind and the concept of a significant other is not going well at the moment. Bleh.

Tried growing out my facial hair again this week, 'cause I want to look all manly, goddammit. Not going to work ever. There's a random patch right in the middle of my chin where absolutely nothing grows, so it looks really dumb. If I leave just the stache I look like a Mexican and people approach me about joining the Latin American Student Association (no really, this actually happened).

my mind and the concepts of life and other humans are pretty alienated at the moment. spending the weekend reading about Situationism didn't help...it just made me sad because i don't have the energy to creatively reimagine anything right now and the act itself seems pointless. gave me a couple of good lyric ideas, though.

i had to shave off the facial hair in the late 80s, when the beard started going grey. if i had a beard now i'd look like Garcia Claus, and with just a moustache i look like a total Castro clone which is not my market. it's a drag because i hate shaving, but it's that or look like something i'm really not.

Man, band practice is difficult when you have to do all of the thinking and stuff with the rest of your band. And our first show isn't at 6 anymore, it's at 12:45, when EVERYBODY will be at ChocolateFest, lol.

And I need to work at 8:30 tomorrow, and my boss is gonna give me shit for something today and I know it. And I don't want to have to deal with that right away in front of the new guy.

Extremely depressed, which is bad enough, but it seems like more and more shit keeps coming up to make it even worse. I'm stuck in a shitty area of a shitty state, and I haven't found anyone around here who is remotely interested in doing the kind of music I want to make. It's all country and classic rock cover bands here. I've even been contemplating selling all of my gear, even though it's taken so long to acquire and and the effort of scratching all the money together for it would make selling it pretty rough on me. I don't think it would help with the depression but I just feel like I'm stagnating in this shit hole. I hate my job, and most of my friends are married or have moved away. I need a change.

I hate that one commercial with the shitty song that consists of a sampled girl going "HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA. HA." while a xylophone or something is being played in the background.

Why is it so hard to find a cheap cassette deck that has inputs for recording?
DOESN'T SEEM LIKE IT SHOULD BE THIS HARD DON'T PEOPLE HAVE THESE SITTING AROUND IN THEIR GARAGES

what's really creepy is that that's "O Superman" by Laurie Anderson. hearing the instrumental passage divorced from its context is fucked up.

FWIW in a truly creepy example of artistic prefigurement this piece was written in the 1980s.

this is the hand
the hand that takes
so you'd better get ready
ready to go
you can come as you are
but pay as you go
cause here come the planes
they're American planes
made in America

hearing that on a commercial fucked me up like nothing since the 1990s Olymipcs Nike commercial with "Search and Destroy" on it, which literally made me run into the living room yelling "what the fuck is Iggy doing on the Olympics?!?" Jesus, it's like using George Grosz in advertisements. talk about missing the point.

You know how sometimes with mechanical pencils certain sticks of lead will make squeaky noises with your paper when you write? I can only find one pencil and all of the lead squeaks and I'm not good enough at math to do my sets in pen AND OH GOD THE NOISE MAKE IT STOP
