I never played it to completion but I thought it was very similar to fallout 1 that I did play a lot of. the only thing broken is that you can cheat by using game saves to alter your chances in anything that is a game of chance. like I had 100% success on pickpocket but my stats were horrible for that. it frees up some stat points though.
Ah come on, have you ever had quest items pick-pocketed by the street kids in The Den?

Gawdddd don't even go there...

Fallout 2 is one of my favourite games, it's seriously great and I might even prefer it to FO1, but there are some ridiculous broken things.

That's a classic. Or go to Navarro and get given some sweet power armour!
I played fallout 3 recently after avoiding it because I like the originals and thought it'd be terrible, and was actually pretty impressed. It has some nice atmosphere, a few good quests/dialogue, and it looks great, but it gets pretty repetetive and some stuff just doesn't seem to fit. Like how there doesn't really seem to be much of a point to the SPECIAL stats and half the perks are full on useless, and some of the dialogue/plot is retarded. I guess it had to be a letdown since the levelling system in the first 2 games is one of my favourites in rpgs and it couldn't possibly work in an fps context.
Also it really breaks immersion when an enemy gets stuck on a door every 5 minutes...

For one thing you die very easily. Too easily.
Also in the singleplayer campaign enemies respawn at their base or are revived and continue fighting - kind of like how multiplayer would be in most games.
Brink is all about the objectives, unlike most games where its more about killing enemies and then maybe there are a few objectives you take care of after.
Most of the objectives result in the levels being like king of the hill or capture the flag games, as opposed to normal A to B levels. There is a lot of back and forth, and combined with how easily you die it can become frustrating.
The actual mechanics and gameplay systems are very good. Everything is gorgeous. Really good graphics, settings, art style, etc.
I think if they make a few changes with some patching it can be great. It gets a 7-8 out of 10 from me.
Brink came in the mail last week. I think I hyped the game up way too much in my mind during the year prior to its release. You are right. The game can be extremely frustrating. I was playing through the campaign by myself on medium, and was having a hell of time getting through many of the levels. My enemies can take a lot more damage, while I die extremely quick. Also every main objective has this tug-of-war feel to it. Both armies meet at an objective point and try to push forward, or push the enemy back, and this can go on and on until you are able to kill off the whole team before they can respawn and provide backup again.
I really enjoy running around behind the scene doing the secondary missions to give my team an advantage, but I feel like they never get anything done unless I'm right there helping them out. haha. Also, I've noticed that every once in a while as I am running around side streets and hallways that I get killed out of nowhere, but there is nobody around. Perhaps I just happen to find enemy landmines the hard way.
This is a really cool game. I'd probably rate it an 7.5/8 out of 10 too. The art style and graphics are fantastic. The intro video was really cool. I also really enjoyed the story. I'm really looking forward to some possible changes via patches though. Hopefully they'll make some changes to some of the mechanics. Like manning a machine gun nest... the controls make the machine gun feel extremely light and the sights move waaay to fast. At times this makes it almost unusable. I might just be spoiled by the realism of Call of Duty.
The developer stressed that this game was designed for multiplayer, so I know it'll be a lot more fun to play online. I'm just kinda bummed that I will be playing the same levels all over again once I do. I hope they release some DLC in the near future. This game has some awesome potential, but the replay value might not be there for me. At least not like it is/was for Halo 3, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, etc. Hopefully there will be a Brink 2, and hopefully that Brink 2 will be amazing... or any FPS inspired by their concepts.

This is the ultimate summary of online games. Shit man, I could go 25-2 in Battlefield 1942 and our team would still lose the round, so then I would have to be the one capturing those boring-ass points on Midway alone and end the round with like 6-4...but we would win at least. I guess.

http://www.gametrailers.com/netstorage/e3/e3-live.htmlAlso, unrelated, Section 8: Prejudice is a great game for $15. Put 5 hours into the campaign so far. You can tell that the graphics didn't have a huge budget game's attention to detail, but it's a lot of fun. Most people describe it as Halo + Battlefield.

Old game, but I just recently was introduced to the monster that is Disgaea for the DS. Forty five hours later and I'm totally hooked and planning on buying the other parts of the series when money allows. Talk about an excellent time-killer.

Archer Flonne + Legendary Glasses filled with specialists + some heavily levelled imperial seals = madness.
