I played this Lafayette bass in Seattle over the weekend and I really liked it, the neck was big and super comfy, it was really fun to play and had a warm vintage sound, it's pretty cheap too, I'm considering asking them to ship it to me...

That feeling where you're not so secretly happy you got outbid on something on eBay that you put an impulse bid on...

I need something beautiful and shining like the northern sun. The Mini is just too lofi in fuzz land. It's great for garage rock, too splatty for shoegaze though.

And also when you sold your Second Voice in the BST thread (I think it was your SV) you mentioned possibly dumping the Mini. GTFO homie.

Cool, what scale length is that do you think? What did those pickups sound like?

I said either SV or Mini had to go, because at the time I didn't have anything else

it felt like a shorter scale, maybe slightly longer than a fender mustang/musicmaster. the pickups were mellow and warm and round.

There's an Akai MPC1000 near me for $250, apparently max RAM and full JJOS upgrade. I think I'm going to get that for chopping and slicing.

Get it. If you don't like it I'll trade you some stuff for it.

Sold within driving distance, one owner since 1962, super cool freaky finish: Höfner 175. Unfortunately he had it "valued". It's maybe worth less than half of the asking price. Damn interwebs ...

Hopefully it lasts until the weekend. Won't be able to buy until then. It's been up for over two weeks already though (somehow)

dang dats a good price on the mpc1000.

check if its got the new pads sensor (1 sheet of 16 lil black squares, and 1 rubber thing of 16 pads). the old sensor is each individual pad housed in its own lil microcosm.

a good way to tell w/o having to open it up is to press on a pad and wiggle the rubber around. if any nearby pads wiggle with it, like the entire rubber is all one sheet, then u have the new new.
if pads nearby stay perfectly still, then u have the old.

if its new you're golden
if its old, check for dead or wonky pads.

i think theres a pad sensitivity menu that u can see how much velocity is being triggered by each pad when u press it. that would be a good way to check w/o having to load up sounds and program.

I saw a sonic blue mustang today and I actually cringed. It was like a punch in my gut. I don't know why. But now I definitely need one.
