Never heard of them until today. Not really a strat guy, or a big fan of red guitars, but its solid. New nut, complete re-fret, and a clean overall guitar with a great setup. $150 out the door. Probably just gonna change out the pickups and call her done. What should I load her up with? Was thinking maybe some old school lace sensors.

If you want output that era squier stuff is fairly gnarly sounding ceramic stuff I beleive, may wanna dick with them a bit first? I always push Dimartzio pups, cheap and killer

The bridge pickup is reading at about 16k so pretty hot. Heaviest strat I've ever picked up, and I mean by alot, I guess the body is solid indian red cedar, and the rosewood fretboard is tight with great grain character, probably the nicest fretboard I've played.

Done some reading on these things and they were built in india for only a year, alongside the squire ii's of the time. Apparently these odd 89-90 indian made squiers sport some real nice lumber, but alot of the hardware and electronics were garbage. This one has had a few upgrades already including steel saddles, and a cast block along with the prior mentioned mods.

Squier production moved to korea and china around 91 and the sunn line of guitars were scrapped.

The sunnstang is pretty rare I guess and even more so in the states.

Been playing this old Special a lot recently.
Neck pu is OoP with the bridge and it sounds wicked.

I'm not usually that into Gibsons, but that one looks killer.

Yeah, that's a killer Special. :)*

In regard to my prior " guard vs no guard" dilemma, I've decided to go back to having the guard on.

The grain going front to back makes yours really interesting to look at compared to most Gibsons' grain going side to side.

That's part of why I bought it! I have since learned that the pattern is from how the wood was cut, which is quarter sawn.
