Retard question here. A Digitech would be a modulation effect correct? So I'd want that closer to the end of my signal chain?
I've noticed that I need to rework some shit because my signal sounds kind of fucked on a few pedal. The Elements especially. Ugh. Maybe it's time for a blender of some sort too.
DOO TELLL ??
Whammy is your call.... it would track better up at the front of the chain - depends on whether you like to whammy your distortion or distort your whammy.
Not modulation, it's a pitch effect so the cleanest signal would make it work at its optimum performance.
The bypass absolutely BLOWWZZZ on the wham, my biggest complaint with it. (but soo much goddamn fun)

nothing drives me crazier than people who insist that there's only one right way to do musical stuff. i usually don't use effects on the bass, but that's not because i have any
ideology about it...it's because i don't have a bass amp or a dedicated board and usually wind up playing bass in settings where an effected sound wouldn't be appropriate or playing with the amp owner looking over my shoulder being all "I MUST PROTECT MY PRECIOUS" like i never played through an amp before. but for fuck's sake, they used fuzz bass on country songs in the 60s. somebody tell that child to listen to some old Buck Owens records. or the Beach Boys shit where Carol Kaye plays fuzz bass...do you know the repeated glissando she does on the coda to "Cabinessence"? i remember when the Gretsch board used to be like that, totally clogged with people who insisted that you didn't need a distortion box, just a tube amp

It is super fun! I put it near the end of my signal for now, but might move it again later. I'm weird about the way I put shit anyway sometimes. I have to get rid of this Smallsound/Bigsound Super Fuzz though. I dig the pedal but man oh man does it not like my other pedals. It's like the effect doesn't even work right unless it's on it's own. So weird. I'm not real familiar with super fuzzes either, so I don't know how picky they are.
Of and the Whammy is fucking amazing dude! So fun! I thought it'd be the same as the Pitchfactor. Nope! Actually the pitch shifting on the whammy sounds more natural and IMO better. I can't believe I never tried one before today!
The bass I got (I mentioned it earlier on in this thread somewhere) is a Stingray Classic 5. Man it is a fucking great bass! Play soooooooooooooo well! I love the Stingray necks and the B string has got to be the clearest B I've heard! So much clarity and rich meaty sexiness. Sexy rich meat....errr...cock...sorry. hah

"you have the least sexy cock i've ever seen. seriously. i'm a lesbian now."
.......... that's not a quote. that's from the little movie vignette style thing that popped into my head upon reading the last full sentence there.

Oh shit yeah! *slaps head, pinches balls* DUUHH. SWEET!!

(It's been a loooong day)
Yeah, whammy is tons of fun (not fat chick fun) but I loved mine. Still might put it back on the board.....some day. I toyed around with the Molten Voltage mods (check them out, if you haven't seen them) but I just decided I didn't use mine enough to warrant the pedalboard real-estate....
I might re-think that decision.

No dumb questions, only dumb answers.
I have a Whammy, and I find it hard to place it in my pedal chain. By itself, it's great, really cool pitch shifting when I pick single notes, but chords get ugly artifacts and ruin any sustain I had before. Shitty bypass I don't notice, if I use it it's always on. The detune and octaves are my favourite, especially one octave up. Octave up into a muff is cool beans, after dirt is cool too, less "musical" though for me.
NOTICE: I never played a whammy with a bass.
To be topical: Gritty bass gets noticed, even if it is with the kick drum beat.
Clean is for jazz.

jusssssssst curious, Morocco Mole Lover......... did you miss an "O" when you chose your screen name? i always read that as "This Is The Way To HIP" like you're giving dance lessons to octogenarians, all as a ruse to get them to shatter their hip and/or pelvis bones with some intricate physical maneuver because you're being paid off by an underhanded company trying to rush untested designs to market of false bone replacement devices.
