I'm in on the idiot box effects pedal of the month club and the last pedal was the "whataphaser" which turned out to be a super warm phaser like my old univox with a 4 step function that can be dialed in.

Good to see you still crankin' them out. One of these days I am going to finally get around to building up a ? flanger. I've got a doppel pcb just waiting to for me to put in an order for another set of those those ldrs.

Awesome. The ?Flanger is definitely worth building.
Depending where you are, ebay can be a good bet for LDRs - example
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263700728340 ... Sw441bAS-n
GL5537 (2M dark) are the right ones, when coupled with diffuse green LEDs, for both the doppelganger and meatball
If I remember well you want much higher dark resistance for certain positions on the ?flange and RingStinger, more like 20M dark eg GL5547 LDRs.

These look hot!
Pull down resistor on the switch?

Yeah. Forgot to add one to the board so this batch they're on the switch.

Have I mentioned that I'd like an optocoupler phaser w/ expression control over the sweep?

check
lil bit of a phaser bloom goin' on right now ('tis bloom season, i guess)...this is the one to which i've chosen to devote my attention:

I had a Pigtronix at one time.

snrp
The very early model A/DA Final Phase were optical too.
But not the reissue?

Not to my knowledge at least, it became a CMOS switched resistor design at some point in its original run and I'm 99.999999% certain that's the case for the reissue too.
Personally, I'd say switched resistor is just as good as optical.

Ah, thanks

- I have the reissue; it does sound pretty pretty nice, and I'm not sure what optocouplers would improve? Besides the 10 stages and grit, the ability to "modulate the modulator" is its big selling point for me.
Univibes were LDR, while later copies are mostly optocoupler-type, right? Are you on the hunt for asymmetry, Chank?
