Sold mine for like $65 I think ...wish I still had it. Was one of the first pedals I ever really lusted after when I was just getting into effects.

Jammed for the first time in a hundred years loud and got to A/B the Super Fuzz and the Dungeon Master.... I love both!! I can’t decide so I’ll just keep both on my board for the time being....

For everybody who's into DIY pedal, I highly suggest you the Pedal PCB Hyped Fuzz.

This is a proper clone of the Boss FZ2, featuring both fuzz mode I & II and the clean boost. True bypass switch, and top mounted jacks.
I got mine as a kit from Musikding.de (for around 60$ with shipping, complete of all needed parts and pre-drilled box).
I built it stock, but the bass control, which I tuned to Boss HM2 values to have that wonderful subbass mayhem.

I used to have an original FZ2 back then, from what my ears remeber this sounds the same!
I compared it to the Dungeon Master, and I like this FZ2 a lot better. it has more mid range in general, and features both Superfuzz modes (normal and notch filtered).

I just traded for one of these. I think it is quite alright but the other guy def scored on the trade. But so far I quite like it, it sounds like absolute shiiiiteee in a great way

Yes I did all by myself. I had an orange spray can laying around, so used that. It was gloss, so I sanded it a bit to get that matt/weared look.

I've had the Fredric Super Unpleasant Companion on my board for a few months now and I don't feel any urge to replace it!

Nevertheless I'd quite like to get a Scrambler style fuzz (which I think I'd only use occasionally) and I'm considering the Maxon Void.

i like that quite a lot. Jorma Kaukonen used a Scrambler with Jefferson Airplane, assumedly with the octave rolled off.

I always liked that element fuzz series by Maxon, but never had the chance to try these out (especially the Ether and the Fire).

Btw I just got a JTPR FX Add Violence: which is a very cool take on the superfuzz topic.

Of all the superfuzzes I own, this is quite on the velcroish/gated side. Controls for volume, tone (mid boost/scoop) and fuzz, and a diode switch (germanium or no diodes, for even more volume output and grind).
What it takes apart from the other SF are 2 internal trimmers: one is for clean blend and the other is for bass boost (there's a third one, which accroding Jptr site should set the octave caracter, but found out that does nothing, acts more as a kind of fuzz bias, so I left it were it was, also Chris from Jptr confirmed me that this trim does quite nothing.... ).

After the first few trials and error, I found out that the Add Violence sounds best with the clean blend dialed to 1:1 balance (or just a little bit more over unity gain, to have a slightly clean boost when on), and bass boost on full blast. With this setup it has a flavor of its own that you won't find on other Superfuzz variants.

I sold my Buzzz ages ago but bought it back from the same person recently and have been loving it so much. the non scooped setting has this really big gazey sound with low gain that i have become obsessed with. also loving having the octave there too!! the scooped setting is also sick but of less use to me in the band im playing with

Enjoying the Buzzz with the Jaguar strangle switch, it focuses everything in a really tight way.
