Hey guys!
We'll do the contest until the end of the month, I don't want to rush anybody.. I don't think you're supposed to rush artists. And you can enter more than once if you like.
I've started coming around to the regular screen printing idea for the shirts.. I realized a lot of super badass shirts are screen printed in just a couple colours, including the super badass Dethklok shirt I'm wearing right now. It has death AND a clock on it.
I put a blurb about this contest on our website but otherwise I've only posted it on this forum, I didn't make a post on HCFX or TGP. Maybe I should have done that... I don't know... I just like this place, I didn't think of the other places.
Thanks again!

whattayatrying to say ryan? were not good enough
so if you decide to get a color limit - how many can we use?
im thinking the space painting for a shirt idea wont fly... depends on how many colors you get.

No no, Ben, I didn't mean anything negative there!
I just meant that I've chatted with a few knowledgeable folks about printing options and it always seems to point towards screen printing. I don't know a thing about printing and have no experience with it but I had been planning on doing a different kind of printing.. maybe for no good reason I think... so I don't want that to be a limiting part of the contest. We've had some great 1 and 2 colour screen print kinda submissions and I dig that style too.
And I didn't mean to sound like we weren't getting enough submissions or enough good ones, I love all the submissions! I think Jon mentioned he thought there might have been more submissions and I just meant to say that the contest is only advertised here and on our website... I have no plans to post about it anywhere else either.
You guys rule and we really appreciate every submission, even ones hastily scribbled in MS Paint... they're all beautiful works of art. I'm looking at you B-man.

Burger UFO is definitely still a contender! I don't mean to say I only want simple one or two colour screen print submissions now, I just mean I'm open to whatever. I had unfair printing biases before and I've let them go.
If the winning submission is full colour then by hell or high water we'll be printing in full colour! But if it happened to be a one or two colour design then we'll screen print appropriately. Everything is still an option, nothing but opportunities around here!
To all you special artist type folks out there I say just do your thing and we'll sort it out at the end, we'll print the shirts however they need to be printed.
And thanks again!

Here is something I made just on the comp. Not my forte, but I like it!

That itself took me a really long time and a lot of revisions. Since I had nothing to do at work today, I decided to draw up some new designs. There are still some things I want to change in these.
1. hearing the sounds shes been thinking of, I'd like to change the Dr. Scientist text to a more art nouveauy font, something slightly aged looking. The "Dr. Scientist" there right now looks like crap so ignore it. Shes supposed to be wearing a necklace with the little robot guy too, but its too small to see
2. Alien zombie (how festive), I borrowed the scary good sounds from another poster, was considering leaving the hand blank and adding more shadows, using the Dr. Scientist font on your website for the title, and then putting just sounds next to it. Again, just freehanding out titles is hard for me. Need to measure those letters out!
3. Frazz Dazzler bringing the brootal, Dunno if I should leave it as just line work or make it more like the others and fill in some black
Anyway, I'm going to try to get better versions of these up. Might take me a week or two (small sketches, plan on redrawing on 8x11 paper, using pencil as guidelines then filling in with marker, will require minimal touch up in photoshop to be good to go) but I'll try to get them done in time before the contest ends. Also have another design I had planned out in my head, but I need to do it on photoshop. Might take me a while to figure out how exactly....

edit: cleaned them up a bit, played with fonts, inverted versions

Totally awesome, guys, thanks a bunch!
I've been hearing from a couple people that they're still working on things and might have a problem with the deadline.. I've never been great with deadlines and rules and bureaucracy so I could probably have my rubber arm twisted to extend the deadline if people thought that was necessary. Or is that lame to extend it further, like when teachers say no because it's not fair to the students who had their things done in time... I just hate to cause stress and pressure and hurriedness.
Thanks again aussy and rubbersoul!
