Having never owned a CBA pedal other than the Gravitas, which had tap tempo, how does the ramping feature work in terms of setting the speed of the LFO?

The Ramp knob sets the speed in this case. I don't see anything in the manual about doing this with an external tap switch or anything though.

The Decay knob just becomes a continuous control over ramp rate. Older CBA pedals allowed you to display the ramp rate at the second footswitch's LED via a dipswitch, but that feature is completely removed from the Dark World as best I can tell. Same with the Thermae and the Condor after a glance at the manual, so I expect that feature is going away for good? I've always dreamt of a non-MIDI way to set the ramp rate at x1,x2,x4,x1/2,x1/4, etc times the tap tempo, but alas there is no such device outside of euro/CV integration.
Anyways, got home from vacation yesterday to find this bad boy waiting for me. I only had about an hour with it, but it's pretty amazing so far. My experience mainly echoes everyone else's. Mod mode is delicious & very much worth the price of admission, and everything else just feels like a treat. Shim was the unexpected favorite of the other modes so far, though like popvulture & a few others mentioned I just dove into Black mode without consulting the manual so the direction of the sensitivity adjustment was a bit of an enigma to me (to save anyone else some time, Decay CW = higher threshold to clear the buffer).
World side is gorgeous & the control set still allows for weird with some ramping, with modulated reverb attainable by ramping the pre-delay slowly or over a short knob travel. I haven't messed with a ton of multi-mode reverbs, but everything on the World side seemed to be a clean & gorgeous voicing of its respective model. I was dialing in some serious ambiance with Mix cranked running Mod or Shim into the Hall mode. I've got band practice tonight so I'm gonna use that opportunity to throw some synth into it and see what happens. But as a long-time non-believer in reverb, I'm quite impressed with my findings thus far.

Agree with baremountain.
I'm not sure if it's my favorite reverb or not. The plate mode bumped the bitquest for reverb duties, but everything else is giving me new sounds that' I've never heard.
The spring is squeaky clean!

I figured it out. I think it’s amazing at pre dirt verbs. Not to say it’s bad post dirt, but trust dark side really comes alive before my elements

I really like what I get out of it fully wet except for the volume drop, which it does like all fully wet reverbs with no master volume. With so many features in a small footprint, I wish one of them was a master volume because it just gets lost in a multi-amp setup. May try The Wardenclyffe to see if I can get something out of it somewhat similar to what I get out of the DW, but without the drop in volume?

A shot in the dark (world!) here, it might be possible there are trimpots inside the DW like there are in the Warped Vinyl HiFi that can be tweaked to bump up the wet’s volume. Before doing any tweaking, feel free to reach out to Chase Bliss for confirmation of this.

Bumped the Bitquest? Bullshit bro. BULLSHIT! For real though, I don't even have a dedicated verb in use right now, so I can't say anything has bumped anything. lol.
I'd love to try one of these. I doubt I'll feel the same way given my blah feeling about verbs over the last couple of years, but I'm always game to be persuaded. I'd love to hear something I haven't heard before but that's a tall fucking order. Especially for a reverb.

The Mod mode into Hall with a long decay and pre-delay is real nice. Placed in front of my Fuck OD is real, real nice.

FWIW, I've actually used the ramping more on this pedal than any other Chase Bliss pedal. It really opens up a lot of very different and useful sounds. It also makes the faves switcher a lot more integral for my uses.
IIRC, my presets are:
1. Dark/Mod with long decay and max mod, slowly ramping tone - gives a nice slow eq fade
2. Ramping mix - tremverb
3. World/plate or hall, ramping depth - gives a nice pad that comes in and out somewhat arbitrarily and doesn't mush up as much as just leaving it on all the time
4. Dark/Shim, slow ramping mod - this has a slightly glitchy feel. depending on how you set the top/bottom switch and mod knob, you can control whether to sweep in just lows, just highs, or both. I think both is the most glitchy-ish
5. World/spring, med/fast ramp pre-delay - space gun
I use the 6th preset for momentary latching with long dwell and trails, so you can just catch one or two notes and let them ring out without building up too much mush

I started a post-metal band and I’m pretty much entirely convinced this will be my main reverb for it. I really want to check one out. That said, how is it on bass? And can it pull of something similar to the modverb on the bitquest?

I wanna run my Behringer time machine into one of these and make dark, swirly space sex.
