My goal in 2017 was to pare down my 2 insane boards to one and pare down the gear as much as possible because I was quitting my cover band and restarting my old band. That is mostly done.

My 2018 goals are mostly synth-related, probably a desktop unit and foot controller, maybe even dip my toe back into modular, although I really don't know if I want to sink that much cash.

This depends on whether or not I manage to get my ass a job in time, but this is what my plans for 2018 look like:

Supro Huntington II
Elektron Analog Keys
Moog Voyager
Roland Alpha Juno
UAD Apollo 8
Amphon One15 + amp
A bunch of pedals including Wonderlove, Wombtone, Spectre, Oktonøjs, Data Corrupter, Mastotron, some Percolator, etc.
A Temple Trio board
A Distressor/Lexicon PCM 81/610-Solo//Neve RNDI/starting a lunchbox.

My list stretches into 2020 lol, so I'll just get whatever I find at good prices, though there are things I need more than others.

I ended up selling a bunch in advance of a house move that hasnt happened yet

Gone are are few Way Huge, some Strymon, some Dr Sci (sad about those..) an old Whammy, and an XP-1000
I also liberated my Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster.

I dont think I actually purchased any commercial pedals in 2017
The Meris stuff got me thinking. As has Chase Bliss, for a while now, but just not enough to pull the trigger.

Time to use the stuff I have would be my big get. More and more I find myself longing less for things than for free time. Been a rough year for that.

Everything else I'm looking to do is about setting up and utilizing my self-aware shoegaze rack of doom, with pedals out front, of course.

Eventually, maybe not even next year, I'm going to try to run an SY-300 or some sorta hex pickup stuff in parallel with the main rig. Dunno if Fishman Tripleplay or Roland/Boss VG stuff with a little Spicetone hex fuzz on the side. I'd need an assload more free time to get useful mileage out of keys or modular, so that seems like the way to go to add more colors. But I really want to get a lot more out of my current stuff before going there.

My financial situation is uncertain, so I dare not set goals. But I actually want to downsize a little in '18. I suppose I'll buy a cheap kit or two since I got a new soldering iron/holder/de-/solder today! Also talking with my bandmates about going in together on an Ampeg 8x10 or other bass cab/head (preferably an Acoustic) for our space.

I did good upon my goal this year to launch. It's been stressful and rewarding. Collaborating with Dminner has been fun as shit.

Buy less // build more

Collaborate more

get one of those Roland thingies so i can record proper demos with my phone

build an amp or acquire another Traynor

possibly start offering PCB design and custom work as a regular thing rather then just word of mouth?

The only thing i can think of buying is a geiger counter and more EAE stuff.

EDIT: BUILD A FUCKING WEBSITE FOR MYSELF

I don't think I had m/any 2017 goals so overachieved. Got some sweet new amps, finally went all in to the alluminati, practiced my live show a ton to be ready for 2018, downsized the board by about 50% etc.

2018 I think my only gear goals are mostly unrelated to guitar. My list so far is:
- Nord Electro 5
- Apollo Twin
- Acoustically treat my living room so it isn't terrible
- Some half-decent monitors
- Build a small 500 series rack for recording
- SM7B
- Build a 6x12
- Downsize even more
- Play the shows I've been practicing for
- Finish recording the next album and get Doug Henderson to master it
- Make at least a vague attempt at connecting with musical contacts

I'll check back in a year to see how I did but currently it seems pretty doable. Interesting to see a lot of people here downsizing as well. Small is goal?

Same

Also setting a goal to play out at once per month, whether it be an open mic or solo ambient set, or with a band

Hopefully meeting those goals will inform my decision making process around what gear I should sell off.

That said, I do have the strong desire for a drumbrute and a nice analog synth
