meh, it can be done better.
it's just not an original idea anymore.

but my honest impression is the idea would work much better with the smaller companies anyway...
It's not "original" for Boss (at least not anymore, since the Boss SD-2 came out in the early 1990s).

But I am neither young nor liberal.
What does this have to do with being young or liberal? And how is it you can possibly see this as a political issue, or one of religious freedom? I'm not going to boycott a company because they support regressive taxation or think the federal government's too bloated, but I sure as shit draw the line at supporting bigots. I wouldn't buy from a company that gave money to the KKK, and I hope you wouldn't either. Bigotry isn't a political stance, and it really shouldn't be tolerated. Sure, people have the right to believe hateful things, but their rights to practice their faith and hold their opinions don't entitle them to my business. As a reasonable human being, I can both accept that the owner and staff of JHS have the right to believe what they want and outright refuse to buy from them because those beliefs stand in support of a hate group.

Demographics here skew (and I'm using that term assuming there's more folks who keep quiet given the shellacking anyone who deviates from the latter) both those hardcore.

What is considered "bigotry" isn't cut and dried as it would seem is the thing. I'd get put quickly in the "transphobic" or "homophobic" camp by the demographics here, simply for not supporting the absolute line of "everything is AOK, do whatever you want all the time at the expense of the taxpayer" and irregardless of my support of any adult's choice to live their life on their standards that they are able to pay for.

The joke is I'm not even a Christian and don't want to own a single JHS product - but I do see the ability of folks to express those faith-based beliefs restricted more and more with every passing year. The baker who wouldn't make a cake for a gay wedding is villified, but artists who won't perform in North Carolina because of the bathroom law...were lauded. Obama's illegal overreaches, lauded. Trump's overarching "evils", blasted before they even had the opportunity to emerge, ad nauseum.

Much of the JHS bashing seems to just be "bash the Praise and Worship guys", which I don't care much about myself (and have a history of denying them sanctuary in anywhere I have control over).

But the thread title pretty much says it all.

I don't hate it because I know or care what it is I hate it because it has red knobs, everyone knows that all pedals that have red knobs suck, even if you change the knobs after the fact.

That is a valid reason for hating it!

I don't need another generic overdrive/dirtbox myself.

And I could get at least 8 Metal Zones for what that's going to cost!

I know, after a while you kind'a know how to do stuff with things and really most things aren't that new or edgy...

I do agree with your big post up there.. what bugs me though are other different things about this trend that I find just as irritating..

Maybe we can pull this thread back from the brink.

Looks pretty cut-and-dried to me- nice super sleuthing Seance. Shit, the thing even says "crunch" on it.

This is an updated reissue. Guessing here, but JHS takes the idea to Boss, who see an opportunity, likely on terms favorable to them, requiring little work- done.

While this may be true to a point, the "bashing" of PDubbers isn't just, "oh they're Christian, fuck those guys."
It's a little more complicated and related to issues of apparent hypocrisy involving their blatant materialism while arguing that "it's all for god" and that you should donate all your cash to the church for one reason or another or the fact that some (certainly not a majority, but some) PDubbers have their $10,000 rigs bankrolled by their megachurches, etc. So, it's sort of related to issues with Christianity/church in general, but it's not as simplistic as "they have that one religion, so we hate them."

Add to that, JHS "bashing" is maybe half related to the Uganda thing, which is something that church was involved with at some level. The "bashing" of JHS/the church (in relation to that specific issues) isn't because of their Christianity, it's because of that situation and the result of it.
Also, the other half of "bashing" is in now way, shape or form related to his religion. It's the fact that he's a fucking liar. He lies about the circuits he clones, he lies about his response to pushback from a certain builder relating to his cloning circuits, etc.
Also, there's that shit about customer service and the "mod shop."

In conclusion: it's not because he's Christian (generally).
If it were, you'd see a lot of people talking shit about companies like Hungry Robot or *gasp* Dirge ( :poke: ).

Ugh, that just felt like one long ramble.

ILF gives special dispensation to its heroes to be honest as well.

I've never seen a positive comment directed towards anything evangelical though.

Not a one.

This course, a perpetual alternation of determining what is true, and then setting aside this determining, constitutes, strictly speaking, the steady everyday life and activity of perpetual consciousness, a consciousness which fancies itself to be moving in the realm of truth.

Being anti fundamentalist evangelical is not the same thing as being anti christian or anti religion.

In response to rfurt: Skully is Christian. Skully is not a liar. Skully makes great pedals. Skully is a great dude.
JHS is not ticking any of those boxes.

Sorry skully for dragging you into this.
